Former Super Eagles assistant coach Bitrus Bewarang has stated that he would prefer a difficult Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifying group for the country.
The draw for the next World Cup will hold today (Tuesday) at the Carlton Hotel in Cairo, Egypt.

The 14 winners from the First Round will join Africa’s top-ranked 26 sides in the draw. The Super Eagles were among the lot drawn bye in the First Round.
The 40 teams will then be split into 10 groups of four for the second qualifying round.
The 10 winners of those groups will then be drawn against each other in home and away fixtures, with the five victors advancing to Qatar 2022.
The Super Eagles have been placed in Pot 1 along with the continent’s heavyweights like; Senegal, Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt , Ghana , Cameroon and Morocco.
And Bewarang who was part of Clemens Westerhof’s coaching crew to AFCON 1994 and USA 1994 World Cup, posited that an easy group will not make the team serious.
“I pray we get a favourable group that we will go all the way and qualify to Qatar 2022,” Bewarang said on Brila FM.
“What I always fear for the Eagles is that when you give them the so called minnows, you find out that our players tend to be relax and will not be serious until they now see that if we don’t take time, we will be out of it. Then you will see them gingering up.”
Bewarang added: “So what I’m saying is that I prefer a group that is tough so that we will begin the seriousness from the beginning to the end.
“So I pray that should be the case and I also believe our players should not undermine any weaker nation because there are no weaker nations in football today.”
