Bird Confirms Retirement Plan

Catalans Dragons’ experienced forward Greg Bird has confirmed he plans to retire at the end of the current Super League campaign. The 36-year-old, who is currently out of action with a bicep injury, is out of contract at the end of the season and the former Cronulla Shark star has decided he will be hanging up his boots when his deal ends.

Having won 17 caps for the Kangaroos and played in both NRL and Super League, Greg Bird has enjoyed a successful career and says he is grateful to all the clubs he has played for. “I’m happy and proud to say finally my time as a player will come to a conclusion at the end of this season,” he said via social media.

“I’m honoured to have played the game I love as a job for 18 years and I’d like to thank @cronullasharks, @gctitans and @dragonsofficiel for that chance.” Catalans will be hoping to call upon Bird’s services towards the end of the season but in the meantime they will have to do without the veteran forward as they prepare to face Warrington Wolves on Saturday at Halliwell Jones Stadium.
