Sheffield United’s hopes of signing Palermo forward George Puscas could be hit by his desire to stay put in Italy this summer. The 23-year-old Romania international is expected to depart Palermo in this transfer window after they were relegated to the third tier of Italian football last season.
The Blades were one club identified as potential suitors earlier in the summer with boss Chris Wilder looking to add more firepower to his attacking options going into the Premier League next season. Speculation died down while Puscas impressed for his nation at the European Under-21 Championship in Italy, but he has now broken his silence to confirm that he will be discussing his future with his representatives shortly.

Puscas refused to dismiss the idea of a move abroad, but he did specify that staying in Italy would be his preference. “I’ll take a few days off. Then we will decide together with my agents Catalin Sarmasan and Crescenzo Cecere,” he said. “I’d like to stay in Italy. But I also evaluate other championships. It doesn’t just depend on me.”
