A Brazilian youth football match between Flamengo and Ceará was briefly halted after a large blue parrot swooped down and menaced players on the pitch.
The remarkable incident took place in the 17th minute at the Granja Comari training complex in Teresópolis.

As Flamengo defender Valmir received the ball, the colourful bird suddenly swooped low over the field before flying directly toward the young footballer.
The player attempted to dodge, but the parrot bumped into him from behind, causing him to fall.
The colourful bird continued to buzz other players on the field, prompting the referee to temporarily pause the match until it finally flew away.
After the chaos, Flamengo managed to take a 1-0 lead but could not hold onto it. Ceara dominated the game and won 2-1 with goals from Andre Luis and Kayck Para.

It was learned that the intriguing guest on the field was a blue-and-yellow macaw, a parrot species frequently seen in South America.
A similar incident occurred in Russia in mid-May when a cow interrupted a match in the Bryansk region championship. The animal ran onto the pitch at the start of the second half during a game between Orbita from Ivota and BKHZ from Seltso, sprinting along the near sideline.
