BREAKING: NFF Appoints Peseiro New Super Eagles Head Coach

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced the appointment of Portuguese tactician Jose Peseiro as new head coach of the Super Eagles, reports Completessports.com.

The NFF made the announcement in a communique issued at the end of its executive committee meeting on Wednesday.

“After careful consideration of a memo presented by Chairman of the Technical and Development Sub-Committee Ahmed Yusuf Fresh, the Executive Committee endorsed a proposal for the appointment of Mr Jose Peseiro as the new Head Coach of the Super Eagles,”reads the statement.

”However, the Committee resolved that Mr Augustine Eguavoen, named the interim Head Coach, will lead the Super Eagles to the AFCON 2021 in Cameroon with Mr Peseiro only playing the role of Observer.

“It was unanimously agreed that the AFCON is a good avenue for Mr Peseiro to launch a working relationship with Mr Eguavoen, who will revert to his role as Technical Director (hence Mr Peseiro’s immediate boss) after the AFCON.

It is the third time the 61-year-old will be managing a national team after stints with Saudi Arabia and Venezuela.

Peseiro has also coached several clubs in his country, including Sporting CP – which he took to the 2005 UEFA Cup Final– and Porto

The former striker won the Egyptian Premier League title with Al Ahly in the 2015/16 season.

The most celebrated coaches in Nigerian history what did they achieve prior to coaching Nigeria? Westerhof and Bonfrere Jo? were you expecting for Nff to appoint Conte? Martinez that took Belgium to no. 1 in Fifa ranking never achieved much prior to the Belgium job. Let us be calming down.

Congratulation NFF. Let’s pray this Portuguese’s guy will improve on Rohr’s legacy. Rohr left Nigeria at number 36 in the World. We were 76 when Rohr came. I hardly can forgive Eguaveon for living out Amoo. Nigerians, please don’t judge the New coach before he even sits down. Let respect him as civilized people would until we have good and obvious reasons not to. Happy New Year, my fellow Country people.

“Let respect him as civilized people would until we have good and obvious reasons not to”

      God bless you brother

Some people are just annoying on this forum. They complain about slightest of things.

  • I thought NFF said they prefer the resume of Jose Morais to that of this man because of his poor past records and lack of achievement. Why employ him when he doesn’t have anything tangible in his CV?
This was exactly the reason why I said the devil we know is a lot better than the angel we don’t know

  • MONKEY POST 2 years ago

Na de koko be that o @Edoman GENERAL ROHR legacy must be improved upon..

  • Sean T 2 years ago

His achievements not impressive. The Jose Morais would have been better

I just copied this from his wikipedia page….Al-Wahda and Al-Ahly Edit
From 11 November 2013 to 11 January 2015, Peseiro worked with Al Wahda FC in the UAE Pro League. On 9 October of the latter year, Al Ahly SC announced his signing; upon hearing the news, fans of the latter protested against the decision based on his weak résumé. Amuju pinick must be delusional.

In my candid opinion, you should have let Eguavon finish up with AFCON before employing another coach. Imagine Eguavon wins AFCON it could be a prove that he could be better than this man, bcos there is no assurance that this man will win nations cup if he had takenover a year ago and he happen to be the one taking us to afcon

    • Dennis 2 years ago

This was what we said. Sacking Rohr wasn’t the issue. Rohr was bound to leave sometime anyways. The issue was getting someone with better credentials and pedigree. This man right here was owed over a year salary and when he coached Venezuela, they came last in the qualifiers

But on a more serious note to think that Oga Picknick had to be flying around, paying consultation fee and lodging in hotels abroad to consult with Mourinho who hasn’t been ontop of his game in the last half a decade all for this low profile coach is laughable. LMFAO!!!!

And more laughable is the fact that Oga Picknick confirmed that he didn’t only consult Mourinho but also “The Specialist in Failure” Arsene wenger.

All that money should have been put together for a more Worthy coach. I mean Nigeria as a great football nation deserve better!

NFF and all these trial-and-error European journeymen/rejects everytime!!

  • MONKEY POST 2 years ago

Una suppose don understand by now say picknick is running personal business with the country’s football.. Anything that would cost him a penny more baba go hands up.. LMAO!!He must have noticed that the Morais of a guy is an upgrade to this one, so he went for this one who is obviously cheaper than the former judging by their CV

Very stupid decision by the NFF

    Welcome to problem, Mr. Peseiro.
You are welcome to the most chaotic, challenging, problematic, and perennially corrupt work environment in world football.
Best wishes to you. You will really need all the good fortune you can get as you navigate your way around your new job, having to deal with some of the most corrupt, inept, incompetent, and obtuse officials in the football world.

    • Igbekun Abo 2 years ago

Lolzzzz. Pompei no o kill person o . At least NFF Onigbese will pay his wages on time. Lolzzzz

  • Has Me. Peseiro accepted the offer or is it just the nff talking?

  • AKARA ENTERTAINMENT AGAIN???
With a hot oil in fire how much of a good beans cake can the NFF make?
I wish you well, take Nigerian football to any where it deserves, Mr Peseiero . If you like take them to Venezuela level and if you are born anew then improve this petulant bunch of super Eagles Team!!!

  • MuYiwa 2 years ago

Welcome Mr Peseiro, NFf know you are the type of coach they can owe for 10 months without complaining like you experienced on your last job. This is a testimony to what some of us have been saying that no sound or world class coach will ever agree to coach SE under the current structure and chaotic leadership. I just pity you as people like Segun Odegbami don already promise you hell. Hope Omo9ja and his cronies are all happy now.

  • Omo9ja 2 years ago

CSN, we are not in school and we all adults. Why are you doing this? You added “Solve Captcha” on your website? You can’t even appreciate us that we are coming on this website. Edit button is needed not CAPTCHA.

I have told you Nigerians to expect nothing from Amaju Pinnick.

Pinnick is a black man that comes from Africa but he have a white mentality. He believes nothing good can come from his own.

He preferred below white coach to his own. He has no shame, upon all the wise people in Nigeria that can help ego man, “Amaju”, he went to meet with Mourinho and here is what here is what Pinnick opted for without our consent. Is he serving us or we are the one serving him?

We have Amunike, Egbo, Finidi George that can do better than this unknown coach. Our leaders are enslaving us. Why can’t you wait to see what coach Eguavoen will achieve in Cameroon before making this move.

The coach know nothing about African football and yet, you Amaju brought him in to mess up the Super Eagles again? slave mentality continues. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!

  • pompei 2 years ago

Pay which wages on time? Looooool!
Unless it’s not NFF ONIGBESE we’re talking about.
Peseiro don enter one chance. He just doesn’t know it yet!

    • pompei 2 years ago

Sorry Igbekun Abo, I was trying to reply your comment. My browser is playing tricks on me.

    Omo9ja,
CSN want to drive us away with this CAPTCHA thing, loool!
We need edit button, not CAPTCHA. Wetin we dey captcha for here sef 🙂 🙂 🙂
By the way, NFF no trust your own, Mr. No Nonsense.
Maybe they think he is Mr. Nonsense, or Mr. No Sense, that is why they have hired his replacement already.
    Looool!

    • Omo9ja 2 years ago

Absolutely correct @Pompei. CSN can now see that we don’t have so many people on here today and if care is not taken between today and Friday, we will find another home.

However, NFF do have trust in our own but they won’t make more profit when we have our own in charge of the Super Eagles but Nigerians will enjoy good football.

The downside of our own is that the selections of the players.

Amaju Pinnick should have played smart on this and setup a new rule that will include himself.

NFF can do without corruption but that have to start from the top.

If NFF can segregating themselves from tribalism, corruption and sentiment then transparency shall regin in our sports.

If our own have bn told they must selected players based on current form, and no room to manipulate anything then they will sit tight and do normal.

“By the way, NFF no trust your own, Mr. No Nonsense.
Maybe they think he is Mr. Nonsense, or Mr. No Sense, that is why they have hired his replacement already.
      Looool”!

Lolz. This is why I love you too much my dear friend Pompei. Opolo ti po ju ahahah. You too smart.

In actual fact my lovely Pompei, Mr. No nonsense is capable to be in charge of the Super Eagles. NFF just want to milk Nigeria dry, that is just it. It will backfire though and Nigeria may not qualify to the world cup in the end.

More so, the new coach is working in a new environment and it will take a while to adapt to the new system which we don’t have much time to do that.

Having said that, what was his achievements before now?

The current NFF is a disaster to Nigeria football.

Nonetheless, Eguavoen can’t be focused on his job in this kind of situation.

Amaju/NFF are causing to much confusion because they are so confused about themselves.

Enough of talking, we have to show our concerns to our NFF. We can’t just say we are tired of Amaju because Pinnick doesn’t owned Super Eagles.

If we don’t make the move now, tomorrow
may be too late. We are about to say goodbye to our football because of Amaju Pinnick and the current NFF members. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!

      • Dennis 2 years ago

Omo9ja we must all stay to enjoy the world class coach you all clamoured for. You had a coach who you said wasn’t world class and you struggled to pay. Suddenly, you think the NFF can comfortably pay for the services of a coach better than Rohr. I dey laugh you. You said Rohr did nothing and qualifying for the competitions which he did with relative ease, isn’t something to brag about. Taking us from 76th position to 36th isn’t something to brag about despite poor working conditions

Now let us see what this coach who lost 6 games, drew 3 and won 1 in 10 matches for Venezuela can do. Omo9ja, jimmyball and co, food Don ready, make una put hand chop

        • Omo9ja 2 years ago

You Oga Rohr fans should be very careful fah. Why I you putting the blame on me?

Am not Amaju or NFF, why the blame?

If Oga Rohr is that good, he should be hired by of of the the African countries and he should go to Cameroon. That should tell you that he is not good enough to manage our darling Super Eagles period.

Omo9ja is not Pinnick who have no dignity and respect for Nigeria and Nigerians. So please, direct your anger to Nigeria football Federation. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!

  • chuks haifa 2 years ago

He sure will not invite the type of players that Eguavoen invited to Afcon

  • The fact is, what if against all odd eguavoen return with the AFCON ?

  • KENNETH 2 years ago

And did we move from the 36th position, and did we ever achieve number 1 in africa in all the 6 years he was here.
