Manchester United have completed the signing of Cameroon international Carlos Baleba from Brighton and Hove Albion.
Baleba joined Man United in a deal worth up to £70m, made up of a £65m guaranteed fee plus £5m in add-ons.
Alo, the 22-year-old has signed a five-year contract which includes the option of a further year.
Baleba is currently injured, having picked up an ankle injury in pre-season, but he could be back by mid-September. Manchester United play Manchester City on September 13.
Baleba’s arrival at Old Trafford brings an end to a transfer saga that has lasted almost 12 months. Sky Sports News has been reporting on United’s interest in Baleba since last autumn and broke the news that they enquired about signing him during the January transfer window.
He remained one of United’s top targets this summer and becomes their third addition in midfield after Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans.

“It is an incredible feeling to join the club of my dreams. Playing at Old Trafford is always special but the opportunity to do so as a Manchester United player will be a real honour,” Baleba told United’s website.
“I cannot wait to work with Michael Carrick; his experience and knowledge of the game make him the perfect coach to help me reach the highest level.
“The ambition of everyone at the club is extremely clear, the future is hugely exciting, and I am determined to play my part in delivering the success that we are capable of together.”
Baleba joined Brighton from Lille in 2023 and made 112 appearances for the club. He featured 35 times last season and was absent for a spell while representing Cameroon at the Africa Cup of Nations.

African players signing for top clubs,2 Cameroon players in Manchester united,Morocco has players in PSG,Real Madrid.Senegal and Ivory Coast are not left out.Ghana has players in Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur,the list goes on..Yet we think we have the right to qualify for every world cup when we decide to stay put in obscure leagues for money right…
These teams are building strength for the next world cup qualification,our players instead are either in mid-table or relegation battling teams,Turkish league and the likes.When we fail to qualify for the next world cup,some folks will have the chips like they always do,you hear them saying “A whole Giant of Africa” failing to qualify for world cup a third time! The big question now is why are Nigerian players not progressing to top European clubs?Everytime,you read in the media,young Nigerian players rejecting Barcelona,Real Madrid for Genk, or a club in the scandinavia and Turkey for their development!Yet they will never make progress or headway,very unaspiring!

The main reason we missed qualification for two consecutive WC is the recycling of underperformers. Same result awaits the team, if we keep relying on this set of social media players. The competition for places in Africa is much tougher now. There are more Cape Verde and DR Congo in the African teams and past glory is no.longer a thing.
