  • Come on Awoniyi, we need goals from you or at least assists. But goals are preferably so a strong case can be made for your inclusion in the Super Eagles, although, your talents have never been in doubt. Scoring goals will move you up the waiting list.
Keep it up. Wishing you a goal filled season.

  • YOU GUYS NEED TO CHECK OUT SADIQ UMARS GOAL AGAINST TENERIFE, THE GUY FIRST CAUSED A PENALTY BEFORE SHOWING EVERYONE HOW FAST HE WAS WHEN HE OUTRAN THE LAST DEFENDER BEFORE CLEVERLY SCORING THE GOAL. THIS GUY IS HOT, HE NEEDS TO LEAVE SMARTBANK LIGA. HE HAS OUTGROWN THIS DIVISION.
MAN CITY,BAYERN, LIVERPOOL IF YOUR REALLY SERIOUS ABOUT THIS GUY, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR. GO FOR HIM. HE IS RIPE FOR THE PICKING.

Sadiq playing in the segunda division is like a kid who can pass university matriculation exams still sitting in the same classroom with those learning tens and units.

The boy is a class act as far as the segunda division is concerned. Deceptively languid, he just doesnt like scoring goals with brute force. A touch of class, panache, flair and sassiness always characterizes his goals. His YouTube compilations are never boring to watch. And if you want to see 6 ft striker with the speed of a hare…..Sadiq is your man. And his hold up play….???? I dont need to say more about that….we all saw it all at Rio Olympics. He should have pushed for a move to Lille in France when they need him to replave Osimhen, rather than agree to move to Almeria in the Spanish segunda.

Recall FIFA international window doesnt apply to lower divisions. Most lower divisions dont halt their schedules during international windows and with the new laws on ground now, they arent obliged to release their players for international matches. So even though invitations will continue to be extended to him, I doubt his club would release him any time soon. It will do him and his international future some good if he quits that division. At 24….he is already nearing his peak. If he’s not on ground to stake his claim for a national team shirt ASAP then it could get pretty difficult in future.

  • To me Awoniyi is already part of the super eagles team….. He has always been around the national team age grade teams and now he has met all the requirements for the main team so nothing is left……I see Awoniyi as the nearest image of osimhen interms of attributes and attitude.

  • Awoniyi must be a regular goal scorer in Bundesliga,if he wishes to look at by SE gafer. SE atackling line needs strikers with appreciable goals record now because Nigeria is blessed with good striking options. In a nutshell, without consistency in front of goal at club level Taiwo Awoniyi stands no chance in SE . I wish him blessing of goals and injury free season

  • Hopefully Nigeria wins it’s double header against CAR next month and takes a commanding lead in the group and then maybe qualify early. Since Rohr is asking who he should bench for his current first choice strikers, if this scenario above happens, we’d like to see guys like Awoniyi, Dennis, Maja, Nwobodo, Al-Hassan, Sadiq,Simy etc play at least a dead rubber SE match. Let’s see who can be displaced in the A team or accommodated from the reserves. Nothing wrong is making a good team better or a strong team stronger.

@Kel, Maja has not done enough to deserve a call up or recall. The bar is higher now, only consistent scorers are in line for callup and Maja have never met that criteria. At least a double digit goal haul in a season with a couple of assists. Osimhen, Kelechi, Sadiqu, Simny, Desers, Moffi, Onuachu have all met this criteria in the recent past.
