Burnley Scout Black Cats Clash

Burnley sent a scout to Sunderland’s 1-1 draw with Luton on Saturday as Bryan Oviedo appeared to say his goodbyes to the club.

The Clarets could have been watching another player but Oviedo was then spotted in a Manchester hotel on Sunday, adding fuel to the speculation he could be about to leave the Black Cats.

Ths Costa Rica international threw his shirt into the crowd at the Stadium of Light as he left the pitch after a three-minute substitute appearance for the League One promotion-chasers.

The 28-year-old former Everton defender has been ousted from his favoured left-back position by Sunderland’s summer signing Reece James and has started only four of his 15 league appearances for the club this term.

Oviedo is also one of the highest earners at Sunderland and the club have been trying to reduce their wage bill ever since Stuart Donald took over in the summer.

Last week Burnley sent defender Jimmy Dunne on loan to Sunderland for the second half of the season but he stayed on the bench for the full 90 minutes against Luton.
