Arsenal beat Ipswich 4-2 to advance to the the fourth round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night, thanks to a standout performance from 16-year-old Max Dowman, who scored twice on his first appearance of the season.
Dowman opened the scoring in the 7th minute with a superb individual effort, dancing past Cedric Kipré before finishing into the bottom corner.
Noni Madueke made it 2-0 in the 16th minute, volleying home after Bruno Guimarães won the ball and Mikel Merino played him in.
Dowman added his second in the 47th minute, controlling a Martin Zubimendi pass and slotting home coolly. Merino completed the scoring for Arsenal in the 58th minute, rifling a shot in off the post.
Ipswich pulled one back through Anis Mehmeti in the 62nd minute after Jack Clarke set him up, and Chuba Akpom added a late consolation in stoppage time against his former club.
The Gunners would hope to go one better in the Carabao Cup this season, after losing 2-0 to Manchester City in the final last season.

At Anfield, Liverpool progressed with three high-quality goals, sealed by a late stunner from Dominik Szoboszlai.
Alexis Mac Allister opened the scoring in the 21st minute with a curled finish into the top corner after a flowing move involving Cody Gakpo and Rio Ngumoha.
Gakpo doubled the lead in the 54th minute with a trademark cut-inside strike into the far corner. Conor Gallagher headed Spurs back into the contest in the 69th minute from a Mateus Fernandes corner (ending Tottenham’s goal drought against Premier League opposition this season).
Spurs pushed for an equaliser, with Giorgi Mamardashvili making key saves (including a crucial late stop to deny Omar Marmoush), but Szoboszlai came off the bench to smash a spectacular long-range volley into the net in the 91st minute to confirm the win.
