Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s solitary goal was enough as Chelsea pipped Djurgarden 1-0 at Stamford Bridge on Thursday, to progress to the final of the Europa Conference League.
Having won the first leg 4-1 in Stockholm, Enzo Maresca rotated his side with an eye on this weekend’s trip to Newcastle, a crucial match in their bid to secure Champions League football.
However, with 38 minutes played, Maresca’s side broke the deadlock following a well-worked team move. Tosin Adarabioyo played through George, who then set away Dewsbury-Hall as the midfielder weaved his way through two Djurgarden defender’s before applying a calm and composed finish.

Chelsea, meanwhile, had chances to extend their advantage as Tyrique George missed the target on two separate occasions whilst a shot on the edge of the box from Dewsbury-Hall was put wide of the target.
However, in the end, it proved to be a relatively stress-free night for the home side
It will be the eighth European final in Chelsea’s history and a first since beating Manchester City 1-0 to win the Champions League in 2021 under current England manager Thomas Tuchel.
