Dakkada Won’t Be Relegated’ –Umar Talks Up ‘Gallant Fight’ In Defeat To Rangers

Dakkada FC coach, Danlami Umar, has praised his players’ ‘gallant fight’ while losing 0-1 to Enugu Rangers in their NPFL match-day 29 game at the Awka City Stadium on Saturday, and remains confident that the club won’t be relegated, Completesports.com reports.

The relagation haunted Uyo-based side almost took Rangers to the cleaners in Awka, but eventually got floored due to poor execution of good intentions.

Dakkada are 18th in the 20-team NPFL on 30 points from 28 matches – with a game in hand, prior to Sunday’s eight match-day 29 fixtures.

Dakkada goalkeeper, Loveday Anugbuo, gave a good account of a himself and almost made a success of standing between Rangers’ advancement in the NPFL table and his club’s escape from the table’s redline, but super sub Christian Nnaji found his antidote in the 65th when he headed in a corner-kick from Obo Eso Archibong.

“Sometimes a game goes this way – when you play so well but still could not win. But l still give it to my boys. For this performance – a gallant fight. l think they have done well,” Umar told Completesports.com at the Awka City Stadium after the match.

“If not for not really getting things done as planned – we had many chances but could not convert them. l think it was due to sheer anxiety. But l am satisfied with their performance, they did well “.

Speaking on the Dakkada’s fight to avoid relegation, Umar expressed confidence that his team will achieve the objective.

Dakkada FC will play at home next weekend against Abia Warriors and Coach Danlami hopes to have a good game and result to bolster their fight against relegation.
