Dessers Scores Late Winner Again As Feyenoord Overcome AZ Alkmaar

Cyril Dessers was the hero for Feyenoord as he scored the late winner in his side’s 1-0 home win against AZ Alkmaar, in the Dutch Eredivisie on Sunday, Completesports.com reports.

Dessers, who came on with eight minutes left, got the goal in the 92nd minute for Feyenoord.

He also did the same thing when he was brought on and scored the winning goal, with less than 20 minutes left in Feyenoord’s 2-1 win at Union Berlin in the Europa Conference League on Thursday.

The 26-year-old has now scored four goals in seven league appearances for the Eredivisie giants.

Also, he has taken his goal tally to six in 17 games in all competitions so far this term.

Feyenoord have now won their last five games and move up to third on 25 points, just two points behind leaders Ajax.

From now on we go dey watch and vindication will continue to happen…..Scored last weekend, midweek, and another winner.eep going boy and hopefully you can make the Nation’s cup squad..

    • Dr. Drey 2 years ago

I tip Dessers to make the AFCON final 28. With 6 goals 3 assists in less than 500 minutes of football so far this season, he has shown he is one to make an impact even down till the very last minute.

That pre-tournament training camp will be bloody. There might be no room for 2nd chances. So those who know how to fluff an empty net when they see one should better go and start recalibrating their feet.

      • Footballfanatic 2 years ago

It is ironic that Onuachu who was benching Dessers last season is not having such run this season while Dessers is gradually coming back to his gaolscoring form…

        • Dr. Drey 2 years ago

Onuachu doesnt seem motivated in Genk colours anymore. You need to watch him play every week. Infact he doesnt fancy the Belgian league anymore, though he already has 12 goals in 19 games already this season (10 in 12 league matches). But you see it on his face most times the way he just saunters lackadaisically around during games….especially league games….he can even afford to miss 2 penalties in one game and miss another 2 over the course of as many games.

His inability to move to a bigger league is still having a psychological scar on him. The jupiler league has become so routine for him that he doesnt even feel the need to put in extra hardwork which can be detrimental, because moving up 2-3 gears suddenly if/when that big league move eventually comes can take longer than anticipated….it will be worse if EPL happens to be that next destination. Juanya Ito is still there to his right, Theo Bongonda there on his left, and the Belgian league defenders are still there allowing crosses to be floated to his head to score…that is something I can guarantee he wouldnt get in the EPL.

          • Footballfanatic 2 years ago

True that transfer saga has affected him psychologically but I didn’t even know he scored 12 already that’s still impressive but he needs to test his mettle in another league..

If eventually Nigeria looses Dessers, Joshua Olawayemi and Calvin Bassey, I will never forgive Rohr because he had the chance to at least cap-tied them for us for at least just a minute for us and he didn’t do it…..I want remain patient and keep watching Rohr and his crew… For I know that whatever has a beginning must surely has an end…

          • JimmyBall 2 years ago

@Abdulhandsy… now you are beginning to get the picture! Joshua Oluwayemi came to camp… they could not give him 30minutes against Mexico. He wented back and changed his mind…

Rohr invited Dessers and give him 5minutes since then no more invites but Musa even on wheelchair gets invited eachtime.

Rohr is confused and cearly does not have the capacity to manage the level of mass talent we have in a fair manner… he continue to rely on half-fits and epileptic players like Samuel Kalu, Ahmed Musa and push for retirees!

Who will not laugh at a coach who has this level of embarrassing talents at his disposal yet continue to act rigid, mechanical and confused. Rohr’s level is Togo, Gabon, Chad and Niger Reuplic not the likes of Nigeria, sadly!

Cyriel Dessers deserves a call up to Nigeria’s super eagles for the World cup and Nations cup tournament coach Rohr. He knows how to score and he is quite a prolific goal poacher. He will add a new dimension to the team’s attacking depth.

  • Omo9ja 2 years ago

This is the only thing you can do to tell Super Eagles coach that you are better than what he thinks of you Dessers.

Keep scoring goals and the gaffer have no choice this time around, you have to be in that team Dessers.

When am talking now, they will say because I love Dessers too much that is why I am clamoring for Dessers.

Among the strikers we have in the Super Eagles, who can bench Dessers?

I asked a question on here last week about Dessers and Ighalo and I am going to ask the same question now.

Do we lack quality strikers in the Super Eagles?

    Why Ighalo?

If at all, our world class coach have to do such a thing, we have to many options available to choose from but not Ighalo.

Now here is the question again, between Dessers and Ighalo at the moment, as a world
best coach Oga Rohr is and honest followers of the Super Eagles, who should Mr. Rohr opted for?

“Dessers, who came on with eight minutes left, got the goal in the 92nd minute for Feyenoord”.

Hmmm, lobatan. Less than ten minutes, Dessers scored another late goal but what of if he has been given 45 minutes in each match, what will happened then?

Dessers’s coach at his club should not be selfish and rigid like Mr. Rohr, that Dessers deserves more minutes than this.

All Dessers needed as a striker in any team is just a chance. Just a chance and Dessers will prove his worth.

Against Algeria, our rigid coach gave him few minutes and he almost scored and since then, the gaffer have shown no mercy on Dessers.

Now that we have our hottest strikers every where, they not deserve to go to Afcon tournament in Cameroon?

Lack of confidence is the major problem of the Coach. Age is another factor. The more older you get, the less confidence you are.

Thank God we have doctors on this forum and they can deny that if Am lying.

Again, if Oga Rohr letting us lose Dessers to another country, Nigerians won’t forgive you Oga Rohr.

Fellow Patriotic Nigerians, we have to work collectively hard to making sure that the best squad represents Nigeria at the next Afcon and the world cup if we qualify.

Dessers, keep up the good work. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!

@JimmyBall, well spoken bro. Wether they like it or not, Super Eagles will be Super again.

No hidden place for Oga Rohr and NFF. Most especially, Amaju Pinnick.

I read it some where now that Uzoho won’t be available for this month world cup qualifiers and he has bn replaced with John Obu when we have Osagwe, Yakubu and Adeyemi?

Honestly speaking, Amaju and Oga Rohr have to go before Afcon tournament in Cameroon.

          Enough of this calamity kę.

Lastly, CSN should please find a solution to this edit button. The edit button has not been working since our last match I think and CSN should fixed the problem please.

We should be able to edit our comments at any time. That is how it should be kę.

Keep up the good work CSN. We love you.

Let’s see if Oga Rohr will not invite Dessers again.

She bi the gaffer was lying to us that Dessers had not bn playing regularly ba?

Now that Dessers is scoring regularly, he, the gaffer and his fans can see now that we know what we are saying about Dessers and if our best players don’t make it to Cameroon, I repeat if Dessers and other in form players do not make it to the next year Afcon, we Nigerians will never forgive you Amaju and Oga Rohr. Shekena. God bless Nigeria!!!

Una get time.Honestly i have given up on the Super Eagles,NFF and the country itself. Everything about this country is backwardness.I used to be a diehard fan of the Super Eagles and would trade anything to watch the team but not anymore. I’ve lost passion for the team because NFF keep doing things backwardly.Who in their right mind would invite a retired Ighalo with the arrays of strikers at our disposal? Isn’t it a clear case of lack of confidence and ineptitude from the coach? As well as corruption and backward thinking from the NFF ? What’s Musa doing in that team ? What does he bring to the team ? A lot of questionable decisions that drives one nuts. Honestly when i think of the situation of this country and how things are being done backwardly it’s drives me insane. If you dey reason Naija matter u go get hypertension and even the coach himself understands the Naija corrupt language hence he is playing along with them. Isn’t it obvious Rhor has nothing to offer ? Do you need a soothsayer to tell you that he is daft and has nothing in the offering ? It is obvious a lot of corrupt activities are going on,in NFF glass house, reason why some of these foreign born professionals and even some Naija born players do not get invited or they probably change their mind on playing for us because these wicked corrupt bastards are forcing dubious deals on them.God will punish all of them and at the right time they would all be disgraced. The fact remains that “nothing is hidden under the sun”

  • pompei 2 years ago

We saw his quality against Tunisia. He came on for a few minutes and gave the Tunisian defenders something to think about. He almost had the ball in the net.
I have always felt that if anyone can have a good game against a tough side like Tunisia, they are good enough for the SE.
Ejuke is proof that this is true.
He is not the most skillful, or the fastest. But he has this thing about him. He’s a fighter.
Indeed, like most strikers, he can be poor sometimes. Shortly after he came on in this game, he incredibly missed an open net chance when he swung his leg and failed to connect with the ball, right in the 6 yard box. But he didn’t stop trying. And he was rewarded with the last minute goal.
That’s the thing about him. He keeps fighting to the very end.
Osimhen remains our top striker, and we’re blessed to have the guy. But he needs some capable deputies. Dessers can be one of them.
Rohr has invited Osimhen, Onuachu and Ighalo.
Iheanacho shows up on the list as a midfielder, but will likely be used just behind the main striker, or as an AM, or on the right wing.
So, why not bring in Dessers to be the 4th striker? He could prove to be very useful if given an opportunity.

    • Omo9ja 2 years ago

God bless you pompei for saying the truth. Nigerians are waking up now.

However, Oomanimumi tayin kę, Pompei. Because, amumitayin is just deceiving itself.

Dear Pompei, with what you are seeing my friend, do you think Oga Rohr can take Super Eagles to the promised land?

Just be honest please. Now, Uzoho is not available due to injury.

Is Akpeyi and John Noble good enough to man the post when Eagles is under pressure?

Having Osagwe to replace Uzoho shouldn’t be a bad idea kę but again, the gaffer opted John Noble when we have Osagwe, Yakubu and Adeyemi.

Don’t get me wrong, having John Noble in the team is good if we don’t have Akpeyi.

So, Mr. Pompei, I will like to hear from you sir. God bless Nigeria!!!

THERE IS FAVOURISM THIS GERNOT ROHR IS DOING IN SUPER EAGLE IN ORDER TO FAVOUR & SKIP SOME OUT.
HE SKIPPED OUT OSIGWE,DESSERS, ONYEKURU, MOFFI EBUEHI, AJAYI FOR AKPEI, IGHALO,SHEHU, AKPOGUMA.
THE SECRET WILL SOON LEAK OUT.

  • Sean T 2 years ago

Dessers is a quality striker. He is just been unlucky at club level and i expect Rhor to be wary of his talent but not Ighalo who is playing in an Arabian league not forgetting that Ighalo don’t have the pace anymore. We all know Ighalo is a wait and get striker so the question who is that playmaker that will feed him to score ? Without him the team qualified for Afcon, topping the world cup qualifier group not because the strikers are getting quality killer passes to score all the goals but they’ve been working their ass out also. Ighalo that we all know don’t have such strength in his prime not to talk of now that he’s not playing in a competitive league. So why is Rhor deceiving himself with 1 stupid experience he claim Ighalo has. Our present reliable strikers are Osimhen, Awoniyi, Dessers, Onuachu, Umar and Moffi cuz i see Ihaenacho as false 9 or 8

  • Derrick 2 years ago

When segun odegbami said we do not have a coach, I was one of the person’s that criticized him, now I know better. Keep on inviting musa, sehun,Collins, playing moses simon as a starter even when he is poor, now is the return of ighalo..Afcon will tell a lot, am patiently waiting.

    • Moses Simon is not the problem because at club level he is an attacking weapon. Blame the coach who gives him the wrong instructions to not utilize his attacking prowess. Nigeria is coached by Pinnick on a second thought.

  • Dr. Drey 2 years ago

I’ve said it before, some people will make good town criers, because they cry about everything. They cry all the time.

When Rohr invited this same Dessers ahead of Onuachu sometime ago, ah…abomination…..aaru….they went to town wailing and mourning, throwing themselves to the ground and rolling in the dust, criticized the man to hell and back for inviting Dessers ahead of their “goal demon” Onuachu, today the same set of confused people are using the words “RIGID” and “CONFUSED” in the same sentence……LMAOoooo. The only confused persons i see are people who will ask for Odey last week, ask for Okereke yesterday, ask for Dessers today, ask for Awoniyi tomorrow, Iyayi Atienwen by weekend, Nwakaeme by next week, Junior Ajayi by the upper week, Sadiq Usman next month and on and on. LMAOOooooo. Let Brown Ideye score for Gotzepe next week, they will bring out their kaakaki to blow his name to our hearing as more deserving of a recall to the national team than their much hated Ighalo…..LMAOooooo…..The height of directionlessness…..LMAOoooo.

Tell them to name their own 23 man list now and you will laugh till your belly starts aching.

If Rohr invites the usual 23 players they cry that rohr is too rigid….too conservative, he does not create competition bla bla bla…..when he calls up new players, they still cry for the old regulars. When he calls up players from the top 5 leagues alone…..they cry that the league where a player plays doesnt matter…..he calls up players from denmark, austria, saudi etc….they still cry. They cry that his team lacks creativity, he names 8 creative players (wingers and midfielders) in his call up, they still cry looking for where creativity will come from. He invites Desseers and does not invite Onuachu…..they cry….its politics, Its becuase Onuachu refused to allow Rohr manage him… bla bla bla….Rohr calls Onuachu ahead of Dessers, yet they still cry…….LMAOOooooo.

I only thought it is on the last day there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, but the weeping we see here on CSN makes one feel the dreaded last day is here already.

Ndi town criers…..una ndo o…..! LMAO. One day, yall will a learn to accept the fact that only 3 CFs can be called up for a qualifier at a go and maximum of 2 can get to play at the same time……LMAOOOooo

  • Mr Hush 2 years ago

Simply put,Rohr has no backbone. If he listens to the dictates of external cries and whimpering to make his selection, he simply has no ‘ Cajones’ .
It means he got no confidence in his plans or simply doesn’t have one.

Always have been appreciative of Rohr’s work baring in mind the kind of environment he is working under but these days , I am not impressed; especially with his selection.

I can only hope he grows back the balls he came in with and get to select base on merit .

    • Dr. Drey 2 years ago

On the contrary Mr. Hush, Rohr has proven times without number not to give a damn about the cries of anyone, that is why he has been tagged “RIGID”. Its only that some people have chosen to make a career out of crying over ever decision he choses to make per time, no matter how much they end up contradicting themselves…..LMAOoooo. When they run out of anything and everything to criticize him for, they turn to their usual “he does not call up homebased players” parody…..LMAOoooo

Those are the ones with no backbones….those are the ones with no ‘çajones’….those are the men who stand for nothing and else fall for everything.

And we have told them times without number, none of them employed Rohr, hence he is not obliged to please anyone of their lot……LMAOOoooo

      • Mr Hush 2 years ago

        @Dr Drey

        Understandably so;

Every coach has the prerogative to select his squad since they will face the consequence of such.
But Rohr’s last selection is coming from a place of ‘pressure’. He seems to have jettisoned the merit system he came in with. A system which I fully support. He seems to be retrogressing hence losing a lot of trust from most of his keen supporters (myself included).

Like most here, I support Rohr because we love the Eagles. And if his decisions are going against the progress of the Eagles then he simply would lose my support. And we would call him out for such; albeit constructively.

That said, not to be wailing Tom; since he is still in charge of the Eagles. He has my support, I would love him to succeed. I would be patient but in my patient we speak when the need arise. Things should be done right. And we all know what right is.
        Merit over anything.

        • Dr. Drey 2 years ago

Our people say, “He who wears the shoe knows where it pinches”. I dont think anybody here loves and wants to keep Rohr’s job much more than himself. He holds his own destiny in his own hands…..he he likes, he should select from ‘a place of pressure’, if he likes he should select from ‘the comfort of the balcony of his beach front resort’…..He holds the knife and he holds the shield. His results will justify or hang him. He’s the one being paid $45,000 every month to coach the SE.

  • pompei 2 years ago

Honestly Omo9ja, I hope this news I’m hearing that Bryan Idowu is on standby instead of Bassey is not true.
If it’s true, then I don’t understand Rohr’s logic with this one. I think Idowu is probably being forced on Rohr, but if it’s Rohr that made this decision, I’m afraid something is wrong somewhere.
With all due respect to Idowu who I consider a decent player, he is not as good as Bassey in the left back position.
Once again, I suspect that Idowu is being forced on Rohr at this time. But if it is Rohr’s decision to invite Idowu ahead of Bassey, then Rohr needs to defend himself on this one.
