Flying Eagles winger Tahir Maigana has completed a permanent move to Hungarian club Zalaegerszegi TE from Abuja-based FC Wireless.
The 18-year-old signed a three-year contract with the Hungarian side, with the agreement including an option to extend his stay by an additional year.
Maigana arrives in Europe after impressing for Nigeria’s U-20 team on the international stage. He was a key member of the Flying Eagles squad that secured a bronze medal at the 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations, featuring in all six of the team’s matches during the tournament.
The talented winger also represented Nigeria at the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup, further enhancing his reputation as one of the country’s brightest young prospects.
Big Move For Youngster
His move to Zalaegerszegi TE marks the next step in his development as he begins his professional career in European football.

“The first thing that stood out to me was the kindness of the people living here and the people working at the club. I can already see that this is a very calm, peaceful city where a player can focus exclusively on football,” Maigana told the club’s official website.
” I would like to show on the pitch all the qualities that the club management has given me confidence in. I want to prove it. I have only heard good things about the team and the conditions, and since my arrival I can confirm that all this is true.”
Maigana Backed To Shine In Hungary
Andrés Jornet, the club’s chairman, believes Maigana is an exceptional talent with the potential to make significant progress during his time in Hungary.
“Tahir Maigana is an exceptional talent who was one of the youngest players to feature for his country at the recent U20 World Cup,” said Jornet.
” Several clubs were interested in him, but he chose the ZTE project because he felt it was the best next step for him at this stage of his career – something we are really proud of. We are convinced that he can continue his impressive development in this environment.”
