Dunfermline Boss Defends Ambrose After Kilmarnock Mistake

Dunfermline manager John Hughes has backed Efe Ambrose despite the defender’s error in Saturday’s 2-1 defeat against Kilmarnock.

The former Nigeria international was at fault for Kilmarnock’s equalizing goal.
The 33-year-old , on loan from St Johnstone, over-committed as he sought to challenge Blair Alston. That allowed the midfielder to skip past him and tee up Kyle Lafferty.

However, Hughes remains steadfast in his belief that the ex-Celtic ace will be an invaluable asset in the Pars’ fight for survival.

“Efe is brilliant, I love him to bits,” lauded Hughes.

“He got done a bit for the first goal. He came out too early and the boy [Alston] nicked it round him.

“But these things happen, it is part and parcel of football.

“Football has a habit of not going your way sometimes. You have to graft and work hard for everything you get.

“Big Efe will bring that experience, he is a good organiser and I really enjoy working with him.”

Efe I thought u became a coach at some point, why did u go back to playing again,I heard u were coaching a youth team, going back to the field will bring constant embarrassment since u have left the game for sometime.besides u might be more than 44 ,I advice u stick to coaching rather than playing, after all u have paid ur dues in the game.

  • And he didn’t go to coaching was out on injury
