Crystal Palace Consider Matthews Swoop

Crystal Palace are reportedly looking into the possibility of signing Bolton Wanderers goalkeeper Remi Matthews. With Vicente Guaita and Wayne Hennessey both 32 years of age, Palace boss Roy Hodgson is looking to bring in goalkeeping reinforcements and he is believed to have set his sights on Matthews.

The 25-year-old shot-stopper made 15 Championship appearances for Bolton last season but was unable to stop the financially-stricken club suffering relegation to League One. As things stand, Wanderers only have seven first-team players on their books ahead of the 2019/20 campaign and several members of the youth side look set for early promotions to the senior set-up.

That number could be cut down to six during the summer transfer window as the Eagles push ahead in their reported pursuit of the Englishman, who started his career at Norwich City. It is claimed Palace have made contact with Bolton to discuss a deal for Matthews.
