Stakeholders in the educational sector in Lagos have been invited to turn out in large numbers for EduGIST’s workout session at the indoor sports auditorium of the University of Lagos sports Centre on Saturday, 7 September, 2019.
Tagged “Educators Keep Fit,” the workout session is being organized by EduGIST, a leading Nigerian social enterprise reforming education in Nigeria using media and technology as veritable tools.
In a release signed by the chief education officer,EduGIST, Mr. Elvis Boniface, explains that its motivation is to promote the popular mantra of ‘sound bodies and sound minds.’
Says, Mr. Boniface: “Many educators will attest that running a school and teaching the students can be physically demanding. But they (teachers and school owners) rarely find the time to exercise their bodies and refresh their minds because of the intensity and workload. As the start of the new school session is coming closer, we decided to organize this workout session to prepare the educators both physically and mentally for greater productivity.”
However, the session is also open to other willing education service providers, parents and even students. University of Lagos Sports Centre was picked as venue because of it’s easy access and also being an academic environment. The three-hour session will run from 7.00am to 10.00am prompt and will also offer attendees opportunities to network in a relaxed environment different from their usual classroom or staff room and seminar setting.
Other activities slated for the Keep Fit programme are aerobics, muscle strength testing, free screening and professional health advisory. More information about the workout session can be obtained at EduGIST blog, www.edugist.org.
