The Standard Tennis Development Club, OWERRI will confront their Aba Sports Club counterparts in the final of 2018/2019 ENIC Tennis Super League at the Nnewi Sports Club, Completesports.com reports.
To earn this grand finale bragging rights, Owerri Standard Tennis Development defeated their Enugu Sports Club counterparts 4-1 in a thrilling semi-final on Friday while Aba Sports Club dethroned reigning champions, Orlu Sports Club 3-1.
Rt Hon. Ngozi Ulunwa, captain of Aba Sports Club 1926 says he is hopeful of taking the ENIC Tennis Super League trophy home at the expense of Owerri with God on their side.
“The heart of the king is in God’s hand. And remember God says He will favour whoever He wishes to favour,” Hon. Ulunwa said said after their tough ENIC Tennis Super League semi-final win over title holders, Orlu Sports Club.
“We’ve worked hard to reach this stage and it is normal to believe that withvGod’s grace, we’ll take the trophy home.”
Similarly, Perez, with 26-match unbeaten run, believes such record is good enough to intimidate their final opponent to help Owerri emerge champions.
“The semi final win was my 26th game unbeaten run. This is enough to intimidate my opponent in the final,” Perez boasted.
“I want to believe we will lift the trophy this time around.”
However, the organisers of the ENIC Tennis Super League have given reasons why Nnewi was granted the hosting rights of the 2018/2019 finals of the ENIC Tennis Super League.
Kingsley Uduh, President of ENIC told Completesports.com it was aimed at honouring the retired Managing Director of Cutix Plc Chief Gilbert Ajulu Uzodike OON who started the sponsorship of the league before he handed over to Mr. Ifeanyi Uzodike, Ogbuefi Nwannediugwu Onwa.
“Cutix Plc has been sponsoring the best regional tennis league in the country for twenty years running,” he said.
“The ENIC Tennis Super League has become the toast of tennis lovers across the nation as a result of the new innovations introduced by the management.”
