Enyimba Head Coach, Yemi Olanrewaju, has emphasised that the People’s Elephant will not prioritise their CAF Confederation Cup campaign at the expense of their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) pursuit, Completesports.com reports.
Olanrewaju stated that the three-time African champions and nine-time NPFL title winners intend to give equal focus to both competitions, aiming to “end the season on a high.”
Enyimba will face Egyptian side Al-Masry on Wednesday, 27 November 2024, in their opening Group D match. The group also includes another Egyptian powerhouse, Zamalek, and Mozambique’s Black Bulls.

“Of course, I know we’ve not had enough time to prepare, but now we’re going to end our camping tomorrow. Hopefully, we’ll watch Al-Masry FC’s video clips to analyse how they play, their setup, and, of course, how we can counter them,” said Olanrewaju.
“We know it’s going to be a tough game, but we don’t want to focus solely on the continental competition while losing sight of our objectives here at home. We want to compete for the league title till the end while also representing the club and the country well in the continental tournament.”
Enyimba remain Nigeria’s sole representative in continental competitions, with Remo Stars, Federation Cup holders El-Kanemi Warriors, and NPFL champions Rangers all eliminated in the preliminary stages.
The team is scheduled to travel to Abuja on Saturday, 23 November, before flying out to Egypt on Sunday, 24 November.
