Former Kwara United coach Samson Unuanel has moved to quell growing concerns over Enyimba’s slow start to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, firmly asserting that the People’s Elephant will not be dragged into a relegation battle.
Enyimba have endured a difficult opening stretch, collecting zero points from their first two matches following a 2–1 defeat to Niger Tornadoes and a 2–0 loss against Doma United, while managing just a single goal. Consequently, the multi-time champions find themselves uncharacteristically sitting 18th on the league log.

However, speaking in an interview with Completesports.com, Unuanel urged fans and pundits not to panic, expressing total confidence in the squad’s ability to bounce back.
“I really don’t think we should start reading meaning to Enyimba’s position in the NPFL despite the fact that they sit 18th position on the log,” Unuanel stated.
“The season is still early and I sincerely believe the Aba Elephants will not be fighting relegation because they have the players to turn their season around.”
According to the veteran coach, the team is only a single positive result away from changing the entire dynamic of their campaign.

“Enyimba only need to win one game to help push the morale of the players and move far from where they are at the moment,” he added.
