Kano Pillars technical adviser Daniel Ogunmodede has expressed satisfaction with his side’s impressive 4-1 victory over Doma United in Sunday’s Nigeria Premier Football League , NPFL, matchday four encounter at the Sani Abacha Stadium.
The emphatic win handed Doma United their first defeat of the season after they had won their opening three matches without conceding a goal.
Pillars Dominate Doma United
Abdullahi Musa opened the scoring for Kano Pillars in the 20th minute before Rabiu Ali missed an opportunity to double the advantage nine minutes later.
Ali saw his penalty sail over the crossbar after Ahmed Musa was fouled inside the box.
However, the experienced midfielder quickly made amends, doubling Pillars’ lead in the 33rd minute.
Doma United came out stronger after the break and reduced the deficit through Sadiq Rilwan in the 53rd minute.

Kano Pillars responded strongly, with Ahmed Musa and Nasiru Salihu finding the net to seal a convincing victory for the hosts.
Ogunmodede Praises Important Victory
Ogunmodede admitted that he had expected a difficult encounter against a Doma United side that had made an impressive start to the campaign.
“We expected a tough game because they had gone three matches unbeaten with nine points and had never conceded, but we prepared very well for them,” Ogunmodede told the club’s media.
“Not playing last weekend gave us ample opportunity to prepare more for them, and no doubt, you could see they gave us a tough time.”
Tactical Changes Made the Difference
Ogunmodede also explained the tactical adjustments his team made after Doma United pulled a goal back in the second half.
“We played to our strength. We tried to get two goals in the first half. The goal we conceded after the second half created a lot of pressure for us, which was why we brought in fresh faces in midfield and attack to stop their centre-backs from taking the ball forward,” he added.
