Everton In The Mix For Ajax Forward

Everton are understood to be one of several clubs closely tracking Ajax’s £40million-rated forward David Neres going into the summer. The Brazilian is one of several players at the Amsterdam giants to have caught the eye in Ajax’s run to the Champions League quarter-finals and boosted his value with an excellent strike in Wednesday’s 1-1 draw with Juventus in the first leg of their last-eight tie.

Toffees head coach Marco Silva is understood to be a long-term admirer of the 22-year-old but he will not be alone in wanting to add him to his squad when the transfer window re-opens, according to the latest rumours. Reports in France claim Paris Saint-Germain, Borussia Dortmund and Everton’s rivals Liverpool are all keen on Neres, who has scored seven goals in his last eight games, alongside registering 11 assists for Ajax this season.

While Everton would struggle in a bidding war between the quartet, the Toffees would hope the offer of regular first-team football could swing the battle for Neres’ signature in their direction. The presence of Brazilian duo Richarlison and Bernard could also aid their cause as they prepare for a tug-of-war come the end of the season.
