Belgian heavyweights Club Brugge are weighing up a summer move for Tottenham Hotspur youngster Elisha Sowunmi, with the highly-rated forward emerging as one of the club’s priority youth targets, Completesports.com can exclusively report.
Sowunmi Emerges As Club Brugge’s Priority Youth Target
Sources close to the negotiations have revealed that Club Brugge have maintained a long-standing interest in Sowunmi and have intensified efforts to assess the possibility of signing him this summer, despite the teenager only joining Tottenham from West Ham United in January.
The 18-year-old, who is eligible to represent Nigeria internationally, was one of the hottest properties in English academy football before his move across London. His performances for West Ham’s youth teams attracted attention from clubs across Europe, with Club Brugge among those keen to secure his signature before Spurs ultimately won the race.

However, Completesports.com has learned that the Belgian side never lost sight of the gifted attacker and now believe there could be an opportunity to reopen discussions during the current transfer window.
Why Club Brugge Believe The Move Makes Sense
Sowunmi is regarded as one of England’s brightest attacking prospects. Blessed with pace, flair, close control and an eye for goal, he is comfortable operating on either wing or through the middle and has continued his development since arriving at Tottenham.
Club Brugge have built a reputation as one of Europe’s leading destinations for elite young talent, offering regular first-team opportunities before facilitating moves to some of the continent’s biggest clubs. The Belgian outfit believe their development pathway could be an attractive proposition for the Nigerian-eligible youngster.

While Tottenham remain convinced of Sowunmi’s enormous potential and are understood to value him highly, Club Brugge are exploring whether a deal—either on a permanent transfer with future protections or another suitable structure—could be achievable before the close of the transfer window.
Sowunmi’s Super Eagles Eligibility Adds Extra Interest
Any move is expected to depend on Tottenham’s assessment of the player’s pathway into senior football this season. Spurs are not actively looking to part with the youngster, but Club Brugge are monitoring the situation closely and are prepared to act should an opening present itself.
For Nigeria, the development will also be watched with interest. Sowunmi remains eligible to represent the Super Eagles, and a move to a club renowned for accelerating the progress of young players could significantly enhance his chances of breaking into senior football in the near future.
Completesports.com understands that talks are still at an early stage, but Club Brugge’s interest is genuine and the Belgian club are expected to continue their pursuit as the transfer window gathers pace.
