Exclusive: Don’t Judge Peseiro With Mexico, Ecuador Results –Lawal

Former Nigerian winger, Garba Lawal has urged Nigerians not to judge Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro with results of the two friendly games against Mexico and Ecuador.

Peseiro, who was appointed by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) recently, lost his first game in charge of the team 2-1 against Mexico on Sunday morning in Texas.

The team is schedule to take on Ecuador on Thursday and the Atlanta Olympic gold medalist told Completesports.com that the Portuguese tactician should be given more time to perfect his tactics for Nigeria.

He also begged Nigerians not to judge Peseiro based on results but on the quality of play of the team.

“It will be too early to start judging Peseiro with the games against Mexico and Ecuador considering the fact that he is just getting to know the players.

“His input in the game against Mexico shows that there is more to come from him if given the time to get his game plan well ironed on the team.

“I see a more stronger and cohesive Super Eagles team and I know things will get better under him “

The NFF choice of Jose Peseiro is about the best thing happening to football in the country. I personally appreciate him for ensuring that the invited local players were featured in the game as I look forward to more involvement.

Oga Henry, we are not talking about local players here, after all our league is not standard. We should be talking about NFF allowing him to chose players of his choice not imposing player on him and they should pay players bonus on time and the man salary on time.

Let’s be real here . The man has just started and it will take time for him to know his players and then to adhere to his style . The NFF made a big mistake of not allowing him to be at the AFCON , he would have been in a better position . But hey the foreign based players will always make up 90% of the team . They play in better leagues , have better facilities and have superior welfare than the local boys . Nevertheless a few talents can be discovered and he will have a balancing game to get the best out of both set of players . I can see the boys getting the 6 points in the AFCON qualifiers
