Exclusive: Don’t Panic, Your Goals Will Come Soon –Babangida Tells Osimhen

Former Nigerian international, Tijani Babangida says he’s confident Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen will rediscover his goal scoring boot for Napoli.

Recall that the last season’s top scorer, has managed to score three goals in all competitions so far this season and it’s becoming a worry for fans and supporters in Naples.

In a chat with Completesports.com, Babangida stated that he’s confident the former Lille star will soon start banging in the goals for Napoli.

“Well, in a situation like this, it is very important for him to remain focus and not be distracted by the fact that he has not been scoring goals for the club.

“For sure, I know this phase will soon pass him by and he will rediscover his goal scoring boot for the club. I understand how he feels but I know the goals will come soon for him.”

Club career

Osimhen started his career at the Ultimate Strikers Academy, based in Lagos, Nigeria. In January 2016, after being noticed for his performances at the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup, Osimhen committed to a pre-contract with VfL Wolfsburg, stipulating that he would officially join the club in January 2017.

Personal life

Osimhen is a Christian. He has stated that he has drawn inspiration from Sadio Mané, who helps his community in Senegal, and has said he wants to help disabled people throughout Africa. Osimhen announced the birth of his first child, a daughter named Haly, born October 2022.

Style of play

Osimhen is a right-footed centre-forward known for his presence, athleticism, strength, directness, runs into space, eye for goal and his linkup play. At 185 cm, he has good holdup play. He also relies on pace to beat opponents.

Osimhen is regarded as one of the best centre-forwards in European football. He has been compared to fellow young strikers Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland, Alexander Isak and Dušan Vlahović. Opta Analyst wrote: “Among that early-prime age group, Victor Osimhen is arguably near the top”

  • He must sit on the bench for a bit let Giovanni Simeone and Raspadori Show him that his place is not Set in stone unless he gives 100% every game.. If that is what it took to get the best out of him last season then the same should happen this season.
