Exclusive: Eagles Yet To Have True Identity Under Peseiro –Akpoborie

Former Nigerian striker, Jonathan Akpoborie has revealed that he has not been impressed with Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro’s style of play with the senior national team.

Akpoborie made this known on the backdrop of the team’s 2-1 loss to the Desert Foxes of Algeria in an international friendly on Tuesday.

The former Wolfsburg striker in a chat with Completesports.com stated that the team is yet to have any form of identity since he took over the job.

“I’ve not been impressed with the performance of the Super Eagles since Jose Peseiro took over the job.

“With the few games played so far, I expected that the team would have gotten an identity of how they want to play.

“The game against Algeria, the Super Eagles didn’t really have that strong understanding. There was no build up from the defence, to the midfield then the attack.

” Well, I want to believe that with more games they will craft something better and we will have the Eagles we always crave for.”

Let him take up a coaching job and give his team a identity. Yeye man. If you said he hasn’t perfected a known system, it’s a different thing.

But to day that the team doesn’t have a system of playing after seeing him play 4-4-2 in all the matches he has played is so unfair. I’m not a fan of the system he uses, may be not too suitable in this era.

But he’s got a system he’s been working with and that is clear to everyone. The perfecton isn’t there yet, may be with time, it will.

    Peseiro’s team play a 4.4.2 formation.
They play the ball quicker from the back to the front hence conceding possession to the opponent’s but are more likely to score should they perfect the system, still work in progress though.
The lose to Algeria is just a friendly and the purpose of playing such a good side is putting to test what we have been learning under the new gaffer and with the way the game went the Nigerian coaching crew knows a lot needs to be done to get the super eagles playing like the brand they’re known for.

Pesaro is not a world class coach. He always shaking and afraid during the match. I don’t even have confidence in him. Nigeria deserve Dunga of Brazil and other quality world class coaches in South America and Europe. Pisario na Okirika coach. Anyway na cheap coach.

I don’t agree with Akopborie on his above comment , but there is tow things which Peseiro must make repair or change if he would like to creat formidable team which can win the next Afcon. in Cote De’Ivore , the tow things are excluding Uzoho and Okoye finally from the team then change them with Sebastian Osigwe , Arthur Okonkwo , Mark Ugboh with Michael Nobil player of Enyimba; also he must tighten defensive midfield with ferocity , pressing , aggression style of play by strong defensive midfielders like Alhassan Ibrahim, Anderson Esiti, Nwankwo Obiora, Joel Obi who have above traits, with this style Peseiro must choose seven strong midfielders with them tow attacking midfielders( Iwobi,Aribo or Malcom Ebuehi) with this style he must change tactic of paly from 4-4-2 to 3-5-2 or 4-3-3 which Super Eagles used to play under Rhor reign.

Lmao!!! Glory I’m rolling in laughter. Lmaomaomaomaomaomao!!!!

“With this style he must change tactics of play 4-4-2 to 3-5-2 or 4-3-3 which SuperEagles to play under Rohr’s reign”. Lmao!! When has Rohr’s style become a nostalgia??? Lmao!!! I can’t stop laughing.

Leave the coach alone to do his job. He already got a pattern. Playing from the back. With a dominant goalkeeper and a dominant forward like Osimhen. A fool strength SuperEagles will flourish in this pattern. Allow the coach to do his job.

Hahaha…. My brother Ayphilydegreat. Hassan go fall me….. He go fall me, hence I must take heed less I fall flat. Nigeria get far more coaches than footballers. Ratio in opinion is 1000: 1. Na only God go help Peserio. The talk has started; his team has no identity, he must change from 433 to 44…. eehh; he needs attacking goal keeper. Kerewa kerewawa apostle; Omonija n him group dey warm up. This is Lagos instead of you are welcome to Lagos is becoming Nigerian/Nigerian identity. What a country? Lmao….

I suggested to Peseiro to play these tactics because Super Eagles lack playing on defensive side especially when long range shots come from the rival players look at Misekni long shot which koncked SE from the last Afcon. Cup in Cameroon 2022; also look at Partey shot which koncked SE from World Cup in Qatar 2022; also Atal long shot which by it Algeria defeated SE for the third time ; so my opinion that Peseiro must repair and change SE some players and tsctics which SE will benefit for better or to be strong team in Africa and the World, any team will scare when it meet SE. So SE can make it in next Afcon. Cup of Nations in Cote De ‘ Ivore next year.
