Eze Gets England Call-up Ahead Euro 2024 Qualifiers

Gareth Southgate has handed Eberechi Eze his first call-up to the Three Lions of England, ahead of their Euro 2024 qualifiers against Malta & North Macedonia in June.

Eze was included in Southgate’s 25-man squad unveiled on Wednesday.

The Crystal Palace star has been rewarded for his fine form in the Premier League this season.

The 24-year-old has scored 10 goals and made four assists in the Premier League this season.

In May 2021, Eze was called up to the senior England squad for the first time, as part of England’s 33-man provisional squad for Euro 2020.

Unfortunately on the same day he was injured during a training session.

His invitation to the Three Lions means any hopes of him turning up for the Super Eagles of Nigeria has been dashed.

He has made appearances for England’s U-20 and U-21 teams.

He never wanted to play for us, His choice.!! We move !!

    • We have Rapheal Onyedika,Alhasan yusuf Eletu , Akinsanmiro, and many young talented Midfielders waiting to step up……we move

      • @Akp non of those guys have proved anything yet this Alhasan Yusuf and Onyedika are not as talented as Eze and play different Positions EZE is an attacking midfielder and the other two are more Defensive minded Midfielders.

        • And what should we do jare? We should be begging him to play for us?

Olise to follow. He too will soon get a call up to France.
Then some part of Naija football followers like me will have peace.
We have Chuba Akpom, We have Nathan Tella that have been begging for chance since. Ejaria did the same (begging) until injury finished him off. Let’s go for players that are ready to fight for naija shirt and leave these players that believe their level is above Playing with Iwobi, Osimhen and Chukwuezes I beg.
With Daniel Daga, Akinsanmiro and Eletu, our future is secured that is if we can do away with all these pay and play coaches that have only 4-4-2 as formation.

Eze dedicated call up to Nigeria.

      • Greatness 4 days ago

He dedicated the call-up to Nigeria? Isn’t that absurd? Is he mocking Nigeria or why? I can’t understand the rationale for that.

    Good decision.

  • Good for him

Those of us blaming These guys will do the same thing if we’re in their shoes. If they sacrifice their future for Nigeria, what will Nigeria do for them? Ruben Agbola is still being owned his allowances by one Alahaji, sorry he said Chief. He was so frustrated that he lost interest even to go to the world cup with us. Do you think they don’t hear stories of what is happening in the eagles camp? How many of us here, if you’re in Western Europe, with a good job, where you make five digits monthly as salary, will leave that job to go work in the Nigerian Army or Police, or even in the private sector for sake of patriotism. The labours of our heros past, who has paid them? Abeg, let sleeping dog lie. Let them protect their future, only those who can’t make it in other National teams are hustling to play for the Eagles, all this because we’ve destroyed our source of producing good players, destroying everything in that country, only if GOD rescues us.

And GOD will surely rescue us, in Jesus Name,Amen.

Great for him! Those are exactly the type of matches he’ll continue to receive invitations for. By the way, I’m curious, when was the last time Tomori and Ibraham were invited?

  • Toni 4 days ago

Good luck to him.I can understand his decision. No hard feelings, Nigeria moves on.But I pity him in the short run.He will play a couple of matches he will be dumped like Tammy and Fikayo.Tell me what else do both of them need to do to get a call up to the England squad.Tammy led Roma to Europa final while Fikayo led AC Milan to the semi final of the champion league yet we’re overlooked.

Both we now have Daga and Eletu to groom and fast track to the SE.You can imagine a Midfield of Daga, Eletu and Iwobi. We will soon forget about Eze and Olise. But NFF must take a special interest in the career of both Daga and Eletu.

The emergence of Akinsomiro, Daga, and Eletu could be the needed boost for the Super Eagles. Fans can look forward to an exciting and enjoyable time with their inclusion. Additionally, converting Ndidi into a defender could greatly benefit the team, as it addresses the Eagles’ current deficiency in that area.

The man is as English as Big Ben. He has chosen to play where his heart is. Congrats to him.
As for Nigeria, we already have a midfield general in Iwobi. A general needs good soldiers around him. Eletu, Daga, and Akinsanmiro are showing that they can step in to fill that need. I wish Ejaria’s career was on track. He could have been another great option. Then there is Alhassan Yusuf are Obinna Nwobodo.
So with proper selection, the likes of Eze and Olise will hardly be missed. England and France can have them. We still love them though. Peace.

Additionally, when you take into consideration the shenanigans of past NFF members, it’s not hard to see why these players are not seeing Nigeria as an attractive option. These players see and hear things that do not exactly flatter our administrators. They have done their due diligence, they see the problems that they will have with Nigeria, and they don’t wish to go down that rabbit hole.
So while our hearts wish they would choose Nigeria, our heads understand their choice.
