Nigeria’s Flamingos, continued their impressive campaign at the 2026 WAFU B U17 Girls Cup with a hard-fought 2–0 victory over Burkina Faso at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium in Yamoussoukro on Monday.
The Flamingos dominated possession and applied sustained pressure from the opening whistle, but Burkina Faso’s disciplined defence kept Nigeria at bay throughout a closely contested first half.
Despite creating several promising opportunities, Nigeria were unable to find the breakthrough before the interval, with the two sides heading into the dressing room level at 0–0.
The Flamingos returned for the second half with renewed intensity, pushing Burkina Faso deeper into their own half and creating increased pressure in the final third.

Nigeria’s persistence eventually paid off in the 82nd minute when Mary Dunstan produced a composed finish to give the Flamingos the lead.
Burkina Faso struggled to respond as Nigeria continued to control proceedings. The result was sealed deep into stoppage time when Oluwakemi Adegbuyi found the net to make it 2–0 and secure all three points for the Nigerian side.
The victory means the Flamingos have collected a perfect nine points from three matches while maintaining their unbeaten record in the competition.
The result further boosts Nigeria’s campaign as the Flamingos turn their attention to their next fixture, looking to maintain their strong momentum and push for the WAFU B U17 Girls Cup title.
