Poland defender Przemysław Wiśniewski believes his side deserved a draw from Wednesday night’s international friendly against Nigeria.
Jan Urban’s men came from behind twice to secure a 2-2 draw in front of a packed crowd at the 58,000-capacity PGE Narodowy Stadium in Warsaw.
The hosts created several clear-cut chances but were denied repeatedly by Nigeria goalkeeper Maduka Okoye, while wasteful finishing also cost them.
Despite the result, it was an encouraging display from the Red and Whites, who suffered a 2-0 defeat to Ukraine in their previous outing.
Terem Moffi and Paul Onuachu scored for the Super Eagles, while Kacper Potulski and Wiśniewski found the net for Poland.

Wiśniewski Hails Poland’s Display
Reflecting on the game, Wiśniewski said Poland showed significant improvement defensively compared to their performance against Ukraine and felt his team merited a share of the spoils.
“We knew we were in for a very physical match. We had to stay more focused than against Ukraine. In the previous match, many of us had returned from vacation, so it wasn’t easy to get into a rhythm right away,”Wiśniewski was quoted by laczynaspilka.pl.
“Nigeria didn’t have many scoring opportunities in the first half, apart from scoring. We analyzed the match against Ukraine closely and will try to draw conclusions from Nigeria as well. We conceded two goals, but overall we were better defensively.”
Happy With Late Equaliser
Wiśniewski also reacted on his dramatic late equaliser, which rescued a draw for the hosts and capped an impressive individual performance.
“I never have a celebration prepared because I don’t usually score goals. I was tired in stoppage time, so I just raised my arms in celebration,” added Wiśniewski.
“From the pitch, I noticed the ball was going away; it certainly looked better on TV. I’ve never scored a goal like that, and I don’t know if I ever will. I’m very happy, because even in training, I don’t score shots like that.”
