Gloucester Sneak Past Bath

Gloucester edged out Bath 27-23 in the South West derby to close in on a Premiership play-off spot. The Cherry and Whites did not have things all their own way in the first period as tries by Ruaridh McConnochie and Tom Dunn gave the visitors a 10-point half-time lead.

Josh Hohneck’s converted try late in the first 40 minutes was all that the home side had to show for their efforts at Kingsholm, but it was a different story after the interval. Bath’s Beno Obano was sin-binned early in the second half and Gloucester took advantage as Ruan Ackermann touched down, with Henry Purdy and Tom Seabrook also going over to secure a bonus-point win.

Bath gained a losing bonus point but sit five points outside the top four with only three matches remaining. Danny Cipriani put on a man-of-the-match display for the hosts who have all but qualified for European rugby next season.
