Hearn Confirms Golovkin Partnership

Eddie Hearn has confirmed that he and Gennady Golovkin have agreed to join forces to promote the middleweight’s future fights. The Matchroom promoter is hoping to secure ‘GGG’ more big fights in the next 18 months as the Kazakhstan fighter tries to earn a third bout with Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.

Golovkin will return to the ring on October 5 at Madison Square Garden when he fights Sergiy Derevyanchenko for the vacant IBF middleweight title. The fighter and his GGG Promotions have worked with Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing outfit before, and the promoter is expecting a third fight with Canelo to occur in 2020.

He told reporters: “It’s an absolute honour to be involved with Gennady Golovkin’s career moving forward. “I’ve long admired Gennady as a fan and how he conducts his business, and we team up at a very exciting moment. Gennady is one of the most recognizable and entertaining fighters on the planet, and I can’t wait to get started to work together on the upcoming world title challenge against Derevyanchenko at MSG on October 5.

“We know the world wants to see the Canelo trilogy, but there are so many opportunities out there for Gennady all over the world, and we look forward to working together on them. First things first is for Gennady to win the title on October 5.”
