Ibenegbu Confident Rangers Will Pip Togo’s Kara In CAFCC Clashes

Veteran midfielder Ikechukwu Ibenegbu has admitted that Sunday’s CAF Confederation Cup first leg Final Preliminary Round game away to ASC Kara of Togo would not be a walk in the park, but strongly believes Enugu Rangers will triumph, Completesports.com reports.

ASC Kara dropped down to the Confederation Cup from the CAF Champions League.

The winner over the two legs, between the two, will advance to the lucrative group stage of the continent’s second tier inter club competition.

And as the Coal City Flying Antelopes prepare to fly out to Lome on Friday, the CHAN and Beach Eagles trojan assures the club’s supporters that Rangers will edge out the Togolese champions to book a berth in the group stage of the competition.

“We respect our opponents in this round of the competition, but we don’t fear them. We have heard a lot about them as regards being the backbone of the Togolese nationa team that stopped Nigeria from qualifying for CHAN 2020 in Cameroon, but that does not scare us,” Ibenegbu, who is called “Mosquito” by his admirers said.

“On our part, we are an equally great side with determination to get as far as the final of the competition with an eye on winning the trophy for the country.

“We are well motivated for this
encounter as the management led by Prince Davidson Owumi has been there for us, ensuring that all that is needed by the players was made available.”

“Ibenegbu added: “We have a target and the Togolese side won’t stand in our way towards achieving that target.

“No doubt, it won’t be an easy game for either side. But we are determined and will give it our best shot.”

The match against Association Sportive des Conducteurs de Kara (A.S.C Kara) is scheduled to hold on Sunday, October 27, 2019 at the Togo’s national stadium, the Stade de Kegue, Lome. The reverse fixture is billed for ‘The Cathedral’, Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium, Enugu, on Sunday, November 3.
