  • EMMANUEL AMUNEKE IS THE BEST

  • Sugar Daddy 2 months ago

Please, we should stop talking about Amuneke…he doesn’t have what it takes to coach the super eagles… enough is a enough of mediocre coaches for our national teams.

Please, go for the best out there and get it…not Amuneke abeg!!!

    • Tope Adeola 2 months ago

If we must settle for a local coach, I won’t favour Amunike. I don’t have anything against but I strongly feels that this may not be the right time to put him under thing kind of pressure.

      I will consider Michael Nsien.

  • TALK UR OWN 2 months ago

WHETHER AMUNEKE OR FOREIGNER, NFF SHOULD QUICKLY EMPLOY ONE.
A COUNTRY THAT IS NOT EVEN NEAR TO BE CALL GIANT OF AFRICA DOESN’T WASTE TIME IN EMPLOYING/APPOINTING A NEW COACH. IN LAST AFCON, GHANA, IVORY COAST, S/AFRICA FUMBLED, THEIR COACH WAS SACKED AND THEY EMPLOY A NEW COACH IMMEDIATELY WITHOUT WASTING TIME.
IN THIS YEAR AFCON, ALGERIA FA SACKED THEIR COACH & THEY EMPLOYED A NEW COACH WITHIN THREE WEEKS.
OUR NFF ALWAYS LIKE TO BE WASTING TIME IN EMPLOYING NEW COACH BECAUSE OF RIGGING, MANIPULATION & CORRUPTION THEY WANT TO INVOLVE IN.
*** IN THE AREA WHETHER TO EMPLOY INDIGENOUS OR FOREIGN COACH:
WHAT IS IMPORTANT MOST IS TO EMPLOY A COACH THAT WILL BE:
    1. RESPECTED BY PLAYERS & KNOW OUR PLAYERS( both local & foreign) AND AFRICAN FOOTBALL
    2. SELF & HIGHLY DISCIPLINE
    3. NOT TOLERATED NONSENSE
    4. ALWAYS USE PRESENT FORM AS A YARDSTICK FOR PLAYERS INVITATION
    5. NOT USING EXPERIENCE/CAPTAINSHIP/LEADERSHIP(that is not fit), EGO, OR SENIORITY IN PLAYERS SELECTION
    7. READY TO IMPOSE DISCIPLINE & COMMITMENT(with characters)INTO THE TEAM.
    8. READY NOT TO WORSHIP ANY PLAYERS & NOT BE INDISPENSABLE OF ANY PLAYERS
    9. HE SHOULD READY TO SEARCH FOR PLAYERS ANYWHERE & NOT USE SENTIMENT OR FAVOURISM IN INVITING/SELECTING PLAYERS
    10. HE SHOULD BE UPDATED & UP-TO-DATE IN FOOTBALL TACTICAL
    11. HE SHOULD STAND FIRM & NOT ALLOW ANYBODY TO BE CONTROLLING HIM OR DICTATING TO HIM.
    12. HE SHOULD READY TO WORK WITH HIS TECHNICAL CREWS

The fact is that most of the applicants for the post are not qualified going be provable facts. Take for instance those who failed woefully as national team coach. So is the nff going to beautify failure, encourage it or go for the most qualified?

If/when I gain the opportunity, im gonna advise the NFF to allow its technical department to handle the team at least for now and till probably August when Coach Samson Siasia will be available for selection. There’s no need for rush and the ideaod some unqualified persons forcing themselves on our SE must not.

  • Larry 2 months ago

Amuneke is not a coach, he is an opportunist that got no class.
His winning ratio with senior teams us less than 20%. Currently, all the local coaches handling NFL clubs are better than him.
Let him go prove his capability with a local club like Heartland or Abia Warriors.

Some people are very foolish in this country called Nigeria imagine waiting for a person under ban for match fixing to come and be super eagles coach unbelievable I don’t even understand how some people are thinking

  • Agbo max 2 months ago

Amuneke will be a good coach but my problem is he will be dancing NFF way and he can’t select the best

  • Chima E Samuels 2 months ago

Amunike or Mosiame let’s go for any of these two. Ignore naysayers football newbies talking down Amuneke.

    • Big Boss 2 months ago

God will punish whoever calls for Amuneke’s appointment. Amen.

  • omo9ja 2 months ago

If Amunike could make it with Tanzania to Afcon I think he is the best for the job period. We should ask Rohr how is he doing in Benin that have better players compare to a Tanzanian team.

people don’t want Amunike but they want Paseiro to continue abi? It is just a pity that we found ourselves in this situation. Let us give Amunike a chance my people. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!

    • Big Boss 2 months ago

You are very crazy for this statement of yours. Idiot! Just like Amuneke, you are very mediocre. Foolish person!

      • WE WILL FAIL WITH OUR OWN 2 months ago

omo9ja is a very foolish man. Don’t mind him.

    • Respect is reciprocal 2 months ago

@omonaija so you have so now condensed Nigeria to the status of Tanzania that you now recommend him because he has coached  Tanzania. Just because Amunikeis a Nigeria does not qualify him to lead Eagles. No Nigeria coach is fit to lead Eagles at the moment if we really want to compete at the highest level which transcend Africa level. Even the Almighty late Stephen though won Nation’s cup for us yet Eagles fumbled at the International level.
It is high time we start to aim for semi final of World Cup rather than Nation cup. This kind of ambitions will help push our administrators , players and the coaching crews to be at their best.
Lastly we have locally made guns yet federal government knows it’s stupid to equip our soldiers and police with these guns rather they provided them with guns from Russia , USA and England . Forget nationalism and nationality let us go for the best if we want to rest.

If a useless tribal coach like Ladan Bosso could constantly coach a national team, if Eguavoen and Sunday Oliseh could coach Super Eagles, I see no logical reason why Emmanuel Amunike, a U-17 World Cup winning coach who equally qualified Tanzania to AFCON shouldn’t coach Nigeria.

    • Fatlee Okos 2 months ago

Eguavoen already had an Afcon medal. That’s The mark of difference.

      • John-1 2 months ago

I respect Eguavoen but he’s nowhere near Emmanuel Amunike in any aspect of football – both in their playing days and coaching. Eguavoen took Mikel Obi and other talented youngsters to 2003 U-17 World Cup but failed to make it pass the group stage. Amunike is a U-17 World Cup winner!

Anyone can win AFCON medal with Super Eagles array of talents. Even a P.E coach like Peseiro won AFCON silver for Nigeria. Coaching Nigeria shouldn’t be difficult, we have talents in abundance. Eguavoen winning bronze with a Super-team means nothing!

  • Olujimi Morgan 2 months ago

I most certainy favour Amunike. He coached a great under 17 team. The FIFA technical team commended his innovation. He lost the next under 20 qualifying in Lagos; after some NFF inefficiencies. Similar inefficiency that cost match against SA in Uyo, when Keshi was persuaded to take over team with few days to the match out of patriotism. Crass inefficiency cost us against Guinea in Abuja when we got wrong the result we needed, as confessed by Osaze Odemnigwe. Disgraceful!

Keshi has been Nigeria’s most successful coach, along with Westerhof. Keshi was hounded out of the team.

I am convinced it is the foreign currency salary of the foreign coaches that makes them preferable to NFF officials. Sad.

    • John-1 2 months ago

Of course. He gave Osimhen the chance to showcase his talent to the World. May be he’s the right person Osimhen needs to actually replicate his European form. Amunike deserves to coach Super Eagles. Bonfrere Jo, Westerhoff and other Super Eagle greats can’t all be wrong while a pocket of armchair coaches on Complete Sports are Wright!

    • The Nff has a certain benchmark for the position and Amuneke doesn’t fit it in. Even Amuneke knows judging from his poor confidence level. Besides, he can’t speak English very well.

      • John-1 2 months ago

English? What level of English did Peseiro speak?

      • Amadi 2 months ago

Haaaaaaaa, from your mouth. Have you watched the guys interview. All of you all condemning him are all crazy. Wasn’t Paseiro hired with losing records from clubs and country. It is now that amunike can’t be hired. he is being judged by one game, didn’t paseiro lose games while in charge. Please carry una sentiments else where. Hatred will kill some nigerians

  • Sunnyb 2 months ago

Is very insulting and highly disrespectful to be talking about eagles job and mentioning Aminikes name. This guy has no qualifications no temperament or any management skills required. Some few  ethic  warriors are the one behind this clueless agenda. Super eagles job is way too big for these money hungry local champs. Pinnick, Aigbogun, Baasey, Eguavoen, Sanusi and Gusau lacks the characters to be productive these are bunch of greedy and shady characters

  • Agbo max 2 months ago

Can Amuneke coach foreign born players?

    • John-1 2 months ago

Why not? Amunike is a former African footballer of the year, BBC African footballer of the year, big-game player during his days, scored title winning goals for Nigeria, scored two cracking goals at FIFA World Cup (one being a diving header against Bulgaria), won U-17 FIFA World Cup as a coach e.t.c. Na who be that foreign-based player wey Amunike no fit coach? Wetin dem don achieve? Apart from Victor Osimhen (who was even discovered by Amunike) who else? All these players playing in relegation teams? Mtcheeew

  • Ipetu Madu 2 months ago

Amuneke is not that good. Imama Amakapabo or Fidelis Ilechukwu will be far better.

  • Agbo max 2 months ago

Can those people you’re mentioning coach osihmen and co ?

  • DiMastta 2 months ago

It is very imbecilic to ask if someone with the same coaching qualifications as Pep Guardiola, can coach the Super Eagles.

Someone who was a playing first team colleague to Guardiola, Figo, Ronaldo, Luis Enrique, Rivaldo, Ferrer…

Someone who played under Bobby Robson and Mourinho.

Someone who was best player in Africa, Continental AFCON winner, Olympic Gold medalist, FIFA World Cup Youth winning coach, National team coach of a country…

It is not in 2024 we should have such ignorant opinions put out for public display.

    • Helius 2 months ago

It is very imbecilic to compare Amuneke “coaching” qualifications to Guardiola’s qualifications…

It is also very imbecilic to think that because one played under great coaches,d pesin go become a great coach…

It is imbecilic to think that personal accolades go make pesin sabi coach…

Make I laugh in Spanish mtchewww common sense no dey common again o

      • John-1 2 months ago

It’s also imbecilic to think that your opinion is more superior than other people’s opinion!

        • Helius 2 months ago

Mind reader u dey my mind 2 sabi say my opinion pass other people own abi na u dey reason am
Dis is why we no dey progress as a nation cos we dey always support stupidity. How can pesin wey get sense compare amunike record to guardiola own and u go come here dey print rubbish. Agba opinion master. Mr sabi all. Oya carry award ni werey.

  • Amuneke shouldn’t have accepted to work under Egavoeen in 2022. It was wrong. He shouldn’t be an assistant to anyone. He should have rejected the offer the way he did when he was approached to be an assistant to Rohr in 2019. But maybe he only agreed to assist Eguavoen out of respect for a former stand-in captain during their playing days.

Amuneke has always been taciturn and unassuming, so some people tend to downplay or rubbish his immense abilities until he pops up and creates another history that once again dwarfs his contemporaries. Scoring the winning goals for our most celebrated achievements (Olympics 1996 and Afcon 1994 – the same year he won AFPOTY that none of his 1994 set, except Yekini, ever won), winning FIFA World Cup, and even went overseas to create history in Tanzania, qualifying them for Afcon for the first time since 1980. Since then that country has started reviving.

Which living, an indigenous coach can boast of same profile? Finidi is another unassuming genius and their combo with Carl/Enyeama I believe can get Nigeria a semi-final spot in USA/Mexico/Canada 2026. Super Eagles under Amuneke and Finidi will get all 3 points in every remaining matchs of the WCQ. We’ll trounce SA home and away come June/July.

I believe after the weekend friendly against Ghana and Mali, NFF would do the needful and start looking inward from the list of applications in front of them. Paseiro, Westerhof, and even Rohr shone with Nigeria but were average everywhere else cos of the quality of players we have. Imagine then what a coach who shone outside (and outperformed these expatriates working outside Nigeria) and also at the cadet level (while also discovering some of the senior team’s brightest stars) would do with the same team.

Bonfere coached many of the 1994 and 1996 sets and he singled out Amuneke. The same Bonfrere we all respected. But because some people simply don’t like Amuneke, suddenly they think Bonfere is crazy.

  • 2026 World cup qualification should not be gambled with like was done 2022 qualification. Nigeria is sitting in 3rd spot and cannot afford a slip up.
The NFF and Nigerians Should set aside sentiments and appoint the most technically sound and qualified coach with a proven track record whether foreigner or Nigerian.
From all the available ones, the South African,Pitso Mosimane is head and shoulders above the rest.
Finding George and Emmanuel Ammunike should develop their coaching skills and experience with the CHAN eagles, U23 and U20 while being seconded to the Super Eagles.
After the 2026 world cup, a new cycle of Eagles should be entrusted to them depending on their performance with the aforementioned assignment.
