Cherki’s first goal showcased his speed as he skipped through the massed ranks of the Palace defence before slipping a left-footed shot past Dean Henderson that took almost everyone in the stadium by surprise.
After Palace reduced the deficit, Cherki struck again almost immediately to extinguish any hopes of a comeback and seal City’s second consecutive league win of the season.
Cherki explained in his post-match comments on the Manchester City Official Website that he did not overthink his first wondergoal, stating it was just natural reaction and instinct.

“It’s my instinct, you know. I’m very happy for the win today,” Cherki told City website.
“My performance was so and so, because in the first half we couldn’t find the space.
“When I saw Enzo was going to change me, I didn’t like that and I need to show them that I want to play and want to score and give assists for Erling.”
