Kanu: Eagles Have Shown Nigeria Can Win; AFCON 2019 Title Race Very Open

Former Super Eagles captain, Kanu Nwankwo is in Egypt, enjoying the 32nd Africa Cup of Nations. Completesports.com presents his opinions on the proceedings in Egypt so far which he voiced out in a short video published on CAF’s social media platforms. Excerpts…

On Rating Of AFCON 2019 So Far

It’s a fantastic atmosphere. Egypt is a good country to be in . The people here love football, and the the games are going very well.

Kanu’s Appraisal of Super Eagles’ Matches So Far

We played the first match and won
. We played the second game and won – we’re relaxed now. You can see we can play football.

Against Guinea, we created clear chances, like where the striker Ighalo had chance to pass the ball to Musa to finish up, but he didn’t do so. And some other couple of chances. But they played a good game.

They (Guinea) threatened our defence , but I think we had the more chances to score than them.

On Who Will Win AFCON 2019 Title

Normally, I don’t like to call it at this stage. I always want the group games to finish, then we will know who is who, and who can make it up there. For now, the race is open. I don’t really know who is the strongest – everybody is panicking because they just played first or second game. When the group phase is over , we can see.

Message To Kanu’s Fans

To all my fans, wherever they are, I say thank you for supporting me. Please keep supporting Kanu. I appreciate you for all these years you have been with me.

When I arrived in Egypt, from the airport to the stadiums, people have shown me love – people from Algeria, Tunisia, everywhere. I appreciate every body, please live a good healthy life and enjoy it.

Ighalo pleaz we don’t want to see this selfish behavior again. You almost cost us this match. Why you don’t simply pass this ball to musa why ? We cannot afford this kind of nonsense in the knockout stage otherwise we will be punish mercilessly. Please don’t do that again pass the ball when needed that’s the only way to win the cup.pleaz and pleaz it’s still so painful despite the win. We love you all. We will by God Grace

Yes o, Musa was in such a position to tap in that ball if only our selfish Ighalo had given him the ball. The Nation would have still credit Ighalo for the goal and showed their appreciation. It was a shame and unprofessional for him to denier the team of such a wonderful opportunity to score what would have looked like a beautiful goal scored by Nigeeria.
