Laliga Stars Who Are Good Friends On And Off The Pitch

Laliga Stars Who Are Good Friends On And Off The Pitch

Which LaLiga teammates are friends off the pitch as well as on it? We highlight five remarkable pairs in this interesting and revealing piece.

Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez

Barcelona’s South American forwards Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez have one of the most in-the-spotlight friendships in all of football. They’re almost always seen arriving together at the Camp Nou on gameday and usually spotted walking out together. Their families even went on holiday together this summer, with their friendship extending to their partners and children.

Iker Muniain and Inaki Williams

There are many close friendships at Laliga side, Athletic Club, a team where so many members of the first-team squad have come through the prestigious Lezama academy together. Iker Muniain and Iñaki Williams may not have broken into the first team at the same time but they have formed a bond and are often seen joking with each other on matchdays and on social media.

Antoine Griezmann and Ousmane Dembélé

Antoine Griezmann and Ousmane Dembéle’s relationship began during their time with the French national team, as they were both part of Les Bleus’ World Cup-winning squad. Their friendship has reached another level now that Griezmann has joined Laliga giants Barcelona from Atletico de Madrid and those in charge at the Camp Nou will be keen for this special connection to translate into goals on the pitch.

Sergio Canales and Juanmi

Sergio Canales and Juanmi struck up a strong friendship when they shared a dressing room at Real Sociedad and now they’re back in the same team at Real Betis. They played together over 50 times during the 2016/17 and 2017/18 seasons; at his presentation as a Betis player earlier this summer Juanmi spoke of how well Canales complements him both on and off the pitch.

Luka Modric and Luka Jovic

This one is perhaps more of a future friendship. It’s not easy to move to a club as huge as Real Madrid at just 21 years of age, but that’s what Luka Jović did this summer. Upon his arrival he found Ballon d’Or winner Modric willing to take him under his wing and welcome him to the Real Madrid family, taking him to dinner after his first day of pre-season training.
