Late Former NFF Boss, Oneya Goes Home; Family Set For Befitting Burial

Arrangement for burial rites of the late former NFF president, Brigadier General Dominic Oneya (rtd), has been concluded, and his family is set for a befitting three-day obsequies in his home town, Efurun, Delta State.

Born 26th May 1948, the former NFF boss passed away on 5th August, 2021, aged 73.

The late Brigadier- General Oneya served as Military Administrator of Kano State from August 1996 to August 1998 during General Sani Abacha’s reign as military head of state of Nigeria. He was also Benue State Military Administrator from August 1998 to May 1999 during General Abdulsalami Abubakar’s regime.

The respected sports administrator was until his death a shareholder at Complete Communications Limited, Nigeria’s renowned sports publishers.

Official information on his funeral rites was signed by Chief Anthony Oneya, for the children and Mr. Matthew Etanyobere, for the entire family.

The details of the funeral rites are as follows:

Wednesday, 8th September, 2021

4.00pm: Vigil Mass at St. Jude’s Catholic Church, GRA Effurun, Delta State.

Friday, 10th September, 2021

8.00am: Body leaves the mortuary for lying in state at his residence at GRA Effurun.

9.00am: Funeral Mass at St. Jude’s Catholic Church, GRA Effurun

1.00pm: Burial at his residence in Ehwerhe Agbarho after a brief stop at his father’s compound.

1:30pm: Entertainment of guests at Ewherhe Grammar School.

Sunday 12 September, 2021

8:30am: Thanksgiving Mass at St. Jude’s Catholic Church GRA, Efurun.
