  • Fantastic world class save by Akpeyi. If not for the star quality of the South African based shot stopper, Nigeria would be down.

  • Sunnyb 5 years ago

    Omeruo ahead of Balogun loll

  • pls where can i watch the match online?

  • Akpeyi have Started O!!! ‘Keeper Fumble’

    • Fumble? Is it the near-ferocious shot that he chose to deflect with a clever punch to the side?

      Or one that I missed?

  • Sunnyb 5 years ago

So far Mikel and Onuachu not looking sharp

    • Pompei 5 years ago

Add Iwobi to that list. Surprisingly. I expect so much from the lad. So far, just below par. Is the heat responsible? Akpeyi has made some good saves, but he’s still scaring me with his demeanor. Looks like he has one big error in him. An error that could cost us dearly!

    • My people it is not rohr fault it is aloy agu that chooses the keeper he is responsible for the mess,

  • Pompei 5 years ago

Burundi look fired up for this one. They are denying us time and space on the ball. That’s a strategy that can stop even the best teams in the world. Let’s hope our boys can take things up a notch soon. Looks like they will need to!

  • Did you see that dribble?

  • Pompei 5 years ago

The firepower that we thought we had….where is it? Did they forget it at the hotel?

  • Bomboy 5 years ago

Disappointing first half. We played without passion.

  • Ayphillydegreat 5 years ago

This Onuachu guy looks like a suspect flash in the pan. I really hope I’m wrong. I haven’t seen any intelligent move or ball sense from him since goodnesses sake.

  • The one the ball passed inbetween his legs for a corner

    • I can now see the team were actually hit with the fever bug…
I’d have preferred Iheanacho in this team for our set pieces

  • Lord AMO 5 years ago

Take mikel out, put iwobi where hes at and bring in simon to replace iwobi. So far the two players that have looked the most likely to unlock the defence are chukwueze and iwobi

  • Bomboy 5 years ago

    Our attack is lame.

I am listening Right now to the half time commentary, and their verdict: Nigeria is controlling the ball but they are not dangerous.

  • Hmmmmm,

Lets just relax and watch. Chukuweze should have stayed on the left and iwobi on the right.

  • Sunnyb 5 years ago

Rohr should not start Mikel and Onuachu in the second half if he wants to win this match, this team is not looking like a Nigerian team  at all, no single goal threat against Burundi, our goalkeeper is the busiest are we for real. We just went through pain from sambisa eleven, Rohr and is players better come correct.

  • Somebody said we have keepers! Akpeyi made one save and acted like a basket in another one. Well, that is a draw for him. Let’s see how he does in the second half.

  • Pompei 5 years ago

Much better from Iwobi in the second half.

  • Sunnyb 5 years ago

Imagine Burundi tormenting Nigeria, playing with serious confidence a team with the lowest ranked among the Afcon participants

    • PapaFem 5 years ago

You will see more of this in this tournament. Many so called small teams who qualified will hurt big teams, not a few. Kudos to SEs. The only weak link is Akpeyi. Otherwise, they played well, and got rewarded with that goal. Can’t wait for the next game.

  • fineboy 5 years ago

Oh boy, all this burundi players be like rock. nawao. Musa coming seems good to me

  • Sunnyb 5 years ago

Rohr pls remove Mikel and Onuachu now both looks tired and lost

  • fineboy 5 years ago

    Naigeria will soon score

  • A team of sheep led by a lion will ultimately win a team of lions led by a sheep.
Bring Falcons coach here for Rhor and the game will change.
Self belief is so vital to success, no wonder the bible says that as a man thinketh in his heart, so he is

This Rhor don’t think we can win any team, how can we?.

  • fine boy 5 years ago

alright i think it’s time for Osimhen or ighalo to come on

  • Pompei 5 years ago

Iwobi looking much, much better. The passes are connecting. We just need the ball in the box more often. And players should be willing to try shots from distance!

  • Sunnyb 5 years ago

I’m done, even Kanu is not looking happy, Rohr pls remove Onuachu now this torture is too much

  • Bring in Osimhen for Onachu now

  • Pompei 5 years ago

Aina and Musa have been outstanding in the second half. So has Iwobi.

  • Fqtee 5 years ago

Akpeyi is not a good keeper!

    • I said in the 1st half Akpeyi made one good save and acted like a basket in another one, making it 1 -1 draw for him. In the 2nd half the only meaningful ball that came his way he fumbled. Thanks to the defenders and of course himself who saved that play. So it was 1- 2 against Akpeyi.
Based on those two fumbles and one save ,I don;t think Akpeyi should be the first choice keeper for Nigeria.

  • Nigeria lead 1:0

  • Sunnyb 5 years ago

Guys are we sure Akpeyi is not blind the guy at times looks blind to me

    • Joel Chidi 5 years ago

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahaha. I don laugh throw way my food eeeehhhhh kaaaiiii

  • Goal!!! Ighalo

  • Ara Nkita 5 years ago

    We no get keeper oooo

    Chai…..

    Why naa?

    Akpeyi lacks confidence o…

    He’s affecting his defence line…

    Chai…..

  • fineboy 5 years ago

    up naija

  • Pompei 5 years ago

See market wey Aina sell with that back heel pass to free up Ighalo for the goal. About 3 Burundi defenders fell victim 🙂

  • Lord AMO 5 years ago

For the past year and a half or so its been clear that the goalkeepers we’ve been using are not up to snuff, yet hardly any other new goalkeepers have been invited to camp! What is going on here? As far as im concerned this falls squarely on the coach.  Its either arrogance or incompetence.  No way anyone can tell me we dont have a better pair of hands than the trio we have at this tournament

    • Footballfanatic 5 years ago

I totally agree with you. Wetin Alampasu do this coach and other goalkeepers that have been mentioned lately like okoye. Abi u sef na secret agent Mr Rohr? I’m just kidding before people curse me out but on a realistically not, we need to try out new goalkeepers for the world cup qualifiers after this tournament.

      • Footballfanatic 5 years ago

        Realistic note***

      • Some Keepers are good for competition. Dele Alampasu is one of them. He is not just lucky with his clubside. Most of our Keepers are not so lucky with European clubside though. I believe Dele is far better than all these our keepers

    • fineboy 5 years ago

i just have to concur with you brother. i nkr understand GR really

  • We should give that goal to Ola Aina for that brilliant pass. It was perfect on Ighalo’s leg. We need good ball control from Ighalo, that pass from Ahmed Musa should have been converted. Good work from the guys though

  • What a game. Honestly, i didn’t expect this kind of display from the burundi’s. They were a thorn in our flesh. If they continue like this they might qualify from our group. Guys we need goalkeepers not goalkeeper. I swear i almost pee on myself with the blunders he was committing. I believe thats the only department that is suspect.

Am sorry but mikel needs to retire. Was really shocked at his display today. He looks tired most times. Couldn’t hold the ball for long. Onuachu i want to believe has lost his place in the team. The only excuse is probably stage fright. I think iwobi needs to stay in the middle, and musa and chukwueze operate the flanks. The defense looked ok to me. But we need keepers

  • Joel Chidi 5 years ago

I need to meet the native doctor giving Akpabasket his native Juju. The native doctor dey try. The Juju really dey cover Rohr eye. I’m a very big fan of Rohr but for the keepers zone, he is well blinded by African Juju. Afolakhai is miles ahead of these sets of keepers. Even Ezenwa is way better than this Akpabasket and tall but nothing Uzoho. With this keepers, we are in a big mess in this nations Cup I weep

    • Are you saying the juju is so strong that e dey catch Rohr, cach em goalkeer trainers, come dey catch all NFF people? But the juju no fit catch we Nigerians wey dey watch the football. I no just understand!

  • Pompei 5 years ago

Top marks to BURUNDI for their tenacity, determination, and desire to get something out of the game. They won most of the 50-50 balls. Their fitness levels surprised me….their players were all over the field closing us down. As for Nigeria, we became more dangerous when Musa and Ighalo came in. Moving Iwobi to the AM position was also key. He provided the link between the midfield and the attack that we had been missing all thru the game. Incredible display from Aina. Chukwueze’s performance was commendable. Full of running and trickery, but was matched for pace by the Burundians. Akpeyi…..hmmmm.

  • Dr. Drey 5 years ago

Mr Rohr…if you still like your job, I have just one piece of advice for you.
Chase Akpeyi far away from your team.

  • Ayphillydegreat 5 years ago

Akpeyi made some vital saves, but also made some unbelievable blunders. It’s clear that we have goalkeepers but we don’t have reliable goalkeepers. Every step forward for Akpeyi is like ten steps backwards. Ezenwa might be our best bet in this tournament if Uzoho can not step up. Terrific display from Aina and he has just cemented his place in the SuperEagles with that JayJayish back heel. Reminds me of the SuperEagles goal against Ivory Coast in Tunisia 94.

Iwobi did well in the midfield, so please I think we need to keep the midfield trio of Etebo, Ndidi and Iwobi. Mikel has been a loyal servant, but I think he should retire at the end of this tournament. Onuachu might have played himself out of the SuperEagles. No pace, no ball sense, no single intelligent movement from a top striker. Anyway he plays in the Danish league. Osimhen should grab his opportunity with both hands whenever he comes on the pitch. Hopefully Collins returns so Aina can play at right back. Shehu has not been fit for a while i don’t know he made the team at the expense of Semi.

Ighalo did well and justified his place in the team. I will be surprised if he doesn’t start from now on. Musa was menacing, but still the end product begs a lot to be desired. Over all the team did well. First games are always tricky and I hope the SuperEagles continue to improve from game to game.

  • The same reason the Pharaohs won with a single goal is why Super Eagles also found it difficult to break the Burundians defence. There are no push over teams in all the three matches played so far in this tournament, every teams have given a good account. Mr Rohr should please work on the Eagles midfield and attack, the defence seems perfect for me in today’s game. I got a mix feeling for Akpheyi, he is so afraid mounting the post with his mistakes but he as well kept a clean sheet by his saves. Goodluck to Super Eagles on their next game.

  • Why not. Seems you don’t know the reason why

  • Lord AMO 5 years ago

One question i have is where are the supporters club with their trumpets, drums and singing? They were absent in france for the falcons and nowhere to be seen or heard in Egypt today

  • Sunnyb 5 years ago

I’m surprised nobody is commenting on the below average performance of Ndidi, thank goodness for Etebo, Rohr was wrong in dropping Ajayi, we need serious competition  for that defensive midfield position, Ndidi needs to be challenged for that position, a lot these players  needs to step up or be phaseout.Akpeyi, Mikel, Onuachu needs to step aside for now, Ndidi, Ekong needs to step up.And for coach Rohr  Moses Simon is ur joker.

    • Ayphillydegreat 5 years ago

How did Ndidi won the man of the match if his performance was below average?

      • Dr. Drey 5 years ago

Pls help me ask him o.
It seams some people’s TV is kerosene powered. Now it is Mikel that should be shown the exit door, just because of one bad game…same Mikel they all clamoured for.

  • You complained of Uzoho the coach dropped him, u did the same to Ezenwa he was dropped too now Akpeyi u re still wailing. Yes the guy did make some jittery mistakes but none lead to goal, in all honesty he had a not too bad game and all he just need to do is to be calm. I think he was jittery because of you guys noise that is why he was so eager to impress. As for those querying the coach decision on the 3 goalkeepers, are those goalkeepers you are mentioning really better than these? remember the same way you were clamouring for Onuachu now see your Onuachu doing wonders now lol. please always try to respect the coach decision because it easier said than done.

    • Jittery bcos of peoples noise?Look,do well there o.Since you want an answer to your question, the answer is YES. You can’t compare an Ejide to Uzoho in that WCup,let’s not even talk of nations cup yet.
We have since warned of all these that Akpeyi acted out today.
Even you would notice that those who opposed these assembly of keepers(and that doesn’t mean none of them should be in the nations cup),usually choose Ezenwa as the best bet. Time and time again they settled for Ezenwa, for obvious reasons. I assume that perhaps Ezenwa is under the weather.

    • Tayo, you are truly a prudent observer. Well done bro.

  • Sunnyb 5 years ago

@Oge, stop wasting your time in replying that boy, just read and pass.Akpeyi is of the best goalie in the world, arsenal is already bidding for him.

    • Pompei 5 years ago

No be only Arsenal…Barcelona and Bayern Munich are also hot on his heels 🙂 🙂

  • Seems to me that a cabal in NFF has forced Akpeyi on Oga Rohr. If I were Rohr, I’d stick to professionalism and resist this imposition, keeping Akpeyi off my team. How things will play out is not pleasant: this cabal, Akpeyi and Rohr will surely sink in the Red Sea (not literally, if you know what I mean).

  • Pompei 5 years ago

Maybe there is something Rohr sees in Akpeyi that the rest of us don’t see. It’s mind boggling, to say the least. And yet, in the past, this is how most of us, myself included, complained about his insistence on using Ighalo. Rohr was ready to die with Ighalo, and most of us just couldn’t understand why. Yet, with the passage of time, most of us will agree that Ighalo has come good. So, although I also strongly believe that Akpeyi should not be starting, I have a feeling that Rohr knows what he is doing. Time will tell.

  • Omo9ja 5 years ago

When? Super Eagles is not a team a coach can do such a thing. That is embarrassing. Akpeyi that failed coach Siasia and now coach Rohr is doing magic to bring the best out of him?

Oga Rohr watched Olympics game and saw Paul Daniel I think and he couldn’t tried
that guy but he opted for Akpeyi instead.

If we go far in this tournament, I will congratulate coach Rohr but if other way round, I will blamed him as well because we have told him so many times before now. God bless Nigeria!!!

    • Dr. Drey 5 years ago

Pls remind me….where is Emma Daniels since after Olympics sef…?
Rohr should invite a keeper that nobody knows his whereabouts..lol
Are you for real at all…?
