You guys can watch the live match on YouTube FIFATV.

Let’s gooo Super Eagles. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!

  • Vibrant and intrepid line up with flair technical players with passion and something to prove.

Eguavoen has been brave to select hungry and passionate players. If it works out,the coach will praised for his bravery. He is proving not to be too rigid with team selection.

Good luck to the Super Eagles.

  • De-Jovial 2 years ago

Any link I can watch this match please

  • Good one..Bassey and Lookman for me though..Bassey should not forget his defensive duty first and foremost. .. he will definitely strike good rythem with Balogun and Aribo. Also, Lookman should not loose the possession of the ball unnecessarily. BY GOD’S GRACE WE SHALL BE PLAYING WITH THE LIKES OF ENGLAND, GERMANY, BRAZIL for the preparation of the world cup proper after today.

  • Sunnyb 2 years ago

Bassey, should calm down, he should do away with unnecessary overlapping. Good luck guys

  • pompei 2 years ago

I would have preferred 3 center backs. But this line up is also good on paper. Especially like the Etebo-Onyeka inclusion in the middle. Let’s hope Aribo has a good game today behind Osimhen. Our strikers should be calm, clinical and unselfish in front of goal.

  • Footballfanatic 2 years ago

Great mistake letting Ghana score but I hope we will prevail

  • footballfanatic 2 years ago

Can’t lie Dennis has been far from impressive

  • Larry 2 years ago

Etebo and Bassey really need to step up.

  • Proudly 9ja 2 years ago

Bassey don’t understand the african game yet.

  • Edoman 2 years ago

Amoo, why don’t they have him in the field by now ???????

    • That’s how you all clamor for this and that, use this, use that, Bassey and Dennis has been anonymous in this game so far

  • Edoman 2 years ago

If Amoo no play, we no go win this match.

  • Sanusi should have started and Etebo is still match rusty

  • Bassey is playing really well I am really not sure which game you guys are watching lol!!

    • Chinenye 2 years ago

What they really don’t know is the Ghananian player he is very trickery, sleeky and skillful which would’ve been terrible for another leftback

  • You see why we need Victor Moses he is better than Lookman in my books… and Aina if you play him Wing back role

  • footballfanatic 2 years ago

I will advocate for Sanusi for Bassey and Amoo for Dennis. Dennis is not displaying urgency….All that big boy play is not what we need now we need to grind out a goal.

  • Sunnyb 2 years ago

Bassey out is very nervous, bring sanusi and Simon in

  • John-I 2 years ago

I thought Super Eagles will be leading by six goals judging by the noise people have made here. How can Eguaveon make five changes from a team that battled Ghana to a goalless draw in Kumasi just because of fans pressure??? Anyway, good luck to Super Eagles

    • @John-I, let me have your own list here, assuming u are the coach.

      • John-I 2 years ago

There’s no player in this current Nigerian team with better shooting accuracy and intelligence than Kelechi Iheanacho. He created what is still the best chance of the two games (in Kumasi and Abuja). We have seen the childish football Emmanuel Dennis and Lookman played after all the noise. This game needed a Kelechi Iheanacho, that’s a fact.

        I blame Eguaveon 110%

  • Nigeria need to put urgency in their style of play to unsettling the Ghanaians! They’re giving the Ghanaians enough space to refresh

  • Ololo 2 years ago

    What a first half!!

Uzoho was very poor with that shot, thank God we equalized.. as it stands Ghana will qualify ahead of us… Hopefully we will.score the second goal in the second half.. aribo has not been in the game, we wanted him closer to the striker but he has disappointed.. iheancho should replace him in that position.. we criticize iheancho but he is one of the Best we have in that position.. lookman and Dennis are playing good football

  • Ayphillydegreat 2 years ago

If we can’t beat this Ghana team then we don’t deserve to be at the WorldCup. In fact we don’t deserve to be in the AFCON if we can’t get a win today. It’s a huge mistake to let Ghana score. I just hope we can get the next goal. Let’s go Eaglessssssssss!

  • Bassey is still a suspect in this match. Nigeria needs another striker on the pitch to take the pressure of Osimhen. An Ighalo or Umar is needed. Also, we need a ball carrier in the midfield and we don’t have that right now.

Dennis needs to be changed and we need another striker and a ball carrier in the midfield.

  • DeSTAR 2 years ago

Honestly, we don’t have good goalkeeper; all our goalkeepers are just average and even poor

The only goal on target was embarrassingly in ! What a goalkeeper ; it is unfortunate that , these are the best we could have in a country of 200 million people with avalanche of great players

    • Golden Child 2 years ago

It has been the bane of all our early exits. They would not listen. Perhaps this would teach them a good lesson. I still hope we qualify though.

  • This game has been everything I anticipated. Bassey is doing his bits. A bit nervous but he has done ok though. Collectively the team has pressed Ghana for space resulting to our higher possession game. Ghana is on the ropes. Oshimen needs to watch his line. Denise has been a bit lackadaisical out of possession but he has done his bit with the pressing when shouted upon by the technical team. Over all,an above average by S.E

  • onwajunior 2 years ago

Shebi when we talked about Bassey ppl didn’t listen. I’m surprised Ghana hasn’t utilized his wing well. He lacks pace! Ghana’s nervous sha. We need to put pressure so that Amatey would get a 2nd yellow card.

  • MONKEY POST 2 years ago

I won’t lie other WORLD CLASS REF would have overlook that PENALTY..

He went down a little bit easily there..

    This is African football guys..

    I guess home advantage counts

  • Samson 2 years ago

I think Aribo should give way for Amoo, Moses in for Dennis and Sanusi for Bassey. Let us beef up the attack.

  • JimmyBall 2 years ago

…I will suggest 10minutes into the second half, if we have not scored for Akin Amoo to be brought on for Aribo… I dont see anything that Aribo is playing…

  • Ololo 2 years ago

I don’t know why we are clamoring for amoo.. in such a game what will he play… Ghana is not giving room for much dribbling .. the middle is where we will win this game

  • Golden Child 2 years ago

I can’t fault Cerezo with his line up. We all wanted this line up but he needs to tweak things here and there and the eagles will be fine.

Aribo is not doing much in the no.10 role for me, he needs to be replaced and the wing men (especially lookman) are not doing enough. No body is getting behind the defenders, the ghanian defenders are not being stretched.

  • Greenturf 2 years ago

Ghana against another team wont be this good but against Nigeria they seem to be in super form.
I think we need Simon,Sanusi and Iheanacho to start the second half.

  • Four four two 2 years ago

Like I have noted earlier, the error is to take a match is this vibe to Abuja. Looking at the crowd u see no passion from the fans. Very few wearing green and white. No shouting and clapping for the boys. For me the spirit is so low. The crowd is not playing the 12th man role. Whatever happens we have to take it in good fate. Cos in Nigeria tribalism and nepotism rules over common sense and national interest. Abuja cannot be the SE slaughter ground. We can’t be wiser than Brazil who’s capital city is Brazila but implant Maracanna in Rio De gero has the home of her national team. There is no soccer playing nation who chose their capital as the home of their national team except that capital city is football crazy. Abuja is a wrong number in terms of being the home of SE. A word is enough for the wise

  • Proudly 9ja 2 years ago

We need to shoot more. We don’t have to try to pass d ball into the next. Hammer better shot as it can ricochet off another player or can go directly into the net.

  • onwajunior 2 years ago

Our biggest mistake was allowing Ghana to score

  • Proudly 9ja 2 years ago

I believe onyeka is hurt hence shehu but i would have tot Ajayi in the midfield would have been the smart play. He has d height and can be dangerous in d box for setpieces

  • Rommie 2 years ago

For Gods sake throw in Sadiq Umar and Amoo into this team

  • pompei 2 years ago

This is exactly where Ghana want to be. Nigeria desperately chasing a goal, 30 mins to go.
It’s unfortunate that Uzoho’s mistake has out us in this situation.
Guys, keep an eye on your BP. It’s gonna be a long, nail biting finale.

  • Get Dennis off!!

    • Congratulations to the Ghanaians.Well deserved. We don’t deserve to go to Qatar.

First, Nigeria loss is Leicester gain.Ndidi threw us into this midfield crisis with that needless tackle that ruled him out of the match knowing full well that we don’t have adequate replacement for him.A south American player will never do that. That singular loss gave partey the freedom in the mid field as we never found another good replacement. The lesson is to reduce over dependence on any one player.

His direct replacement Onyeka cost us that goal.He lost partey who have so much space to shoot.

Poor goalkeeping from Uzoho too contributed to that goal majorly.

Equaveon poor decision making and tactical naiveness was a major issue .Watch coach Addo, having achieved his objectives in the first half.He quickly made 3 attacking substitution at the beginning of second half. The idea was to keep pressing higher up and keep the pressure off the defence and they did it excellently.

Our coach should have made those attacking substitution early as well as Osimhen was once again isolated for the most part. His tactical deficiency cost Nigeria the match.

A big congratulations to Ghana once again

  • Nigeria need urgency

  • Bassey is SOLID!!! MEhn!!!

  • If we can’t beat Ghana, we don’t deserve to qualify for the world cup. That’s the bitter truth!

  • Glory 2 years ago

Iwobi seriously missing. No link up play from me midfield to Osimene. Just don’t have his replacement yet.

  • NFF OUT

  • pompei 2 years ago

20 mins to go! Nigeria one leg out of the world cup.

  • I am sorry to say that with what I see us playing we can’t win this match. I just began to watch from the second half. Eagles are not playing as if they are hungry for goals. It’s a pity. It’s a pity. Our players are just ordinary.

    • Razak 2 years ago

Remember some Nigerians said that it was a mistake to fire Gernot Rohr but the NFF and other people were busy celebrating now you see the Super Eagle will miss 2022

  • Eguavoen needs to bring in another striker in this game. Osimhen needs support upfront

  • Ahmed Musa for Dennis

  • Rommie 2 years ago

WHY HAS EGUAVOEN REFUSED TO BRING IN AMOO OR SADIQ UMAR?????????

  • pompei 2 years ago

    We’re not creating chances.
We’re not taking shots at goal.
Where will the goal come from?
    15 mins to go!

  • The Ghanaians have fully settled and they are dominating the game. Nigerian players don’t want the match

  • We don’t deserve to be at d world cup, this is what happens when u rush things and bring sentiments in an organization. What did we achieve now, Nations cup nothing. Worldcup nothing but we have football Admins interfering in selections . Who do we trust to lead us, is it Kanu or Okocha so dey sell us further by accepting whatever to play for Tinubu. We should face d harsh reality we don’t deserve it. We have to restructure the Nff totally. 10million signatures for the NFF president to go, that’s the best buhari can do for us .

  • Dr. Drey 2 years ago

Eguavoen is doing the exact same thing Siasia did in 2011 vs Guinea that got us knocked out of qualifying for 2012 AFCON…..5-0-5 formation….No midfield.
I pray Ghana does not get a 2nd goal now that we have poured all our men forward

  • These players should just forget this world cup. Even if they manage to score they will not do anything in the world cup

  • DeSTAR 2 years ago

What is Amoo doing on the bench ? Why was he invited to be wasted on the bench ?

  • John-I 2 years ago

Ghana is a better footballing nation than Nigeria

  • He needed 2 strikers from the onset of the match. Is it now that it remains 5 minutes he will bring 3 strikers into the match? All this Nigerian coaches sef.

  • pompei 2 years ago

Failure with our own is imminent!

  • Dr. Drey 2 years ago

What a team for 5 years , No one reliable goalkeeper, No single one player maker , No single one player that can play free kick ( in 5 years No single goal from free kick… all wasted)

    What a nation , what a country….. Corruption

    • Footballfanatic 2 years ago

There was no urgency at all………..Just disband this team. Thers’s enough time before 2026. Ghana played like they wanted it the most. Congrats to them.

    • Dr. Drey 2 years ago

Fool…LMAOOoo……for 5 years we were qualifying for all competitions with games to spare and without high blood pressure……without goalkeeper, player maker and player that can play free kick…..LMAOOoo

      Useless idiot.

May this pain last forever in your miserable life

    • It is just apparent that we never had a coach for more than 5 years. Coaches who could not produce a goalkeeper, a ball carrier in the midfield no good wingers. All the coaches have been relying on already made product from Europe. Players who never really understood African football. Apart from Osimhen, there was no player in this team who was really hungry for glory. I’m sorry to say Nigerian coaches are just clueless when it comes to navigating crunch matches.

How can you play a match like this without any definite pattern. It not about putting players on the pitch. It is how you structure them players!

  • Congrats Ghanaian National Team.

    We keep pushing ahead.

    Up Super Eagles

Egu and his local coaches brought doom why did he replace Frank the Tank with Sheu. Omo naija can you see that our local coache’s are rubbish . • Dr. Drey 2 years ago

    Congratulation Nigeria……LMAOOoo

Congratulations for sacking Gernot Rohr……LMAOOoo. It was indeed a timely decision……LMAOOoo

  • onwajunior 2 years ago

Waiting for Odegbami’s letter. Lol… I remember when I did a risk analysis. Everything I predicted with that analysis has come to past. We really avoided the 2 disasters we fired a result-oriented coach for. We have failed with our own. Let’s go and sit down. Congrats to Ghana!!! Naija joins Italy.

They said SE did not have a playing pattern. Yes playing pattern, if any has taken us to Qatar and also won the nations Cup.

  • Osimhen is always falling up and Dan!!!

  • Everybody dropping lineup for coaches, atleast u saw what your preferred eleven can do

  • @selfmaid no go let us rest, tommorow they should sack eguaveon, he lacks proper tactics, and you guys are blaming okoye saying uzoho is way better, you din see that okoye good pass uzoho

  • Glory 2 years ago

Truly deserve what we’ ve gotten today. We keep killing our prophets in this country. Iwobi this Iwobi that… He was Rohr’s secret weapon but we never appreciated him. Bonke came, did a yeoman’s job in the away game, majority questioned his inclusion. A prophet warned against Musa being part of the team, as that can attract negative energy due to unfairness to better DESERVING players but the prophet warning was ignored… Who is going to waste his time starting all over with SE again? Definitely not me….

  • Ayphillydegreat 2 years ago

Now the Ghanaians can own our forum. We knew this was coming since the scenarios before the AFCON. I hope we can now see that local coaches are the best for the SuperEagles??? Lmao!! Awọn Ọlọtẹ. Congratulations to the Black Stars of Ghana. They deserve to be at the WorldCup.

    • Yaw opare 2 years ago

      Thank you

    • But they were the better team now. Even though on paper we had the better players. I think the problem here was the coach and the players who never understood the magnitude of the game.

I’m extremely glad Kelechi Iheanacho didn’t participate in this shame. I put all the blame of Eguaveon

  • JimmyBall 2 years ago

Congratulations to Ghana… the were the better team over two legs of the encounter… it is obvious we had a lot of average players. Make we address the real issues facing Nigeria and sit at homne at watch others play the world cup… our team was very poor over 180minutes. When we say invite players based on club form… Musa, Ighalo and Shehu did nothing and the likes of Aribo are not cut for African game… Akin Amoo was wasted on the bench. Eguaveon has never succeeded in any coaching capacity before… what a shame!

  • Chudynak 2 years ago

I thought someone in this forum has been writing thrash that away goals rule is no longer applicable? Anyway. Although the team lacked any character, I blame the goalkeeper for our ouster. It is now clear that the goalkeeper trainer is not capable and should be fired together with the technical adviser/interim manager. They do not have what it takes to be in the coaching crew. The team also needs to be disbanded at this point. We lost in the AFCON and thought this would be a compensation for that terrible outing. The same thing has repeated tonight. This team is featherweight. Please disband this team NOW!

  • Dr. Drey 2 years ago

Even if we qualified for the world cup, what are we going to do there? With this team?
No playmaker, no goalkeeper, no proper winger, no goal threat, no incisive passes, no purpose, no hunger?
Thanks NFF ONIGBESE! Your poor decisions have resulted in this calamity.
The chickens have come home to roost. Literally!
You fired a coach for not playing attractive football.
Spend money and get us a proper coach, for where? Oh wait, the money that could have been used to pay a proper coach has been misappropriated. My bad.
We simply do not deserve to be at the world cup. Period.
Sorry for Osimhen, who played his heart out. He must be wondering why he’s so unfortunate to have to play with this generation of players and coaches.
Do I hear laughter? Loud laughter coming in from the Ghanaian media and people.
We keep shooting ourselves in the foot. Now, the bleeding is out of control.

DO WE NOW AGREE THAT NFF GOOFED BIG TIME, ROHR WAS SAID TO BE FIRED TO AVOID DISASTER BUT THEY PLUNGED NIGERIA INTO UNIMAGINABLE DISASTER OF THE HIGHEST ORDER

WELLDONE TO ALL OF YOU THAT WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS CALAMITY, JIMMYBALL, OMO9JA, DEO, UGO IWUNZE, MAD MAN IGBEKUN ABO AND ALL THE REST OF YOU THAT SUPPORTED THE REMOVAL OF ROHR AT THIS CRITICAL TIME OF THE QUALIFIER AND AFCON

    • Hahahaha! Dr Banks, you are the one I am least worried about. I know how many Nigerians will feel but let’s take heart while going back to the drawing board. To be candid, the present Super Eagles coaching team needs more time. NFF should kindly remove this interim whatever and make them permanent coaches and Technical Advisers. God bless Nigeria.

    We deserve this failure..

What was the justification sacking a coach who met all his targets… Some of us here said we should fail with our own.. you are the problem of Nigeria.. I feel like slapping that pinnick guy.. infact it is people like him those bandit should go for…

We always qualify for every tournament with games to spare, and he promised us gold at the Afcon.. we needed no calculator for 5 yrs, we didn’t Play the sexy football but we achieved all what we targeted.. shame on those sport supporters who motivated the nff into this mistake of a coach cerozo..

  • We have failed with our own 2 years ago

Atleast we have the best coach of the afcon group stage, the coach will learn alot as a spectator at the world cup and try again in 4 years.Abeg make una help me add positive from this match……somebody once said it’s better not to qualify than to qualify and not win the trophy,u know yourself….pls how do u feel now

  • Detruth 2 years ago

Pinnick and Co succeeded in their quest to avoid disaster both in AFCON and Qatar 2022.

  • Hmmm…the day of Nemesis is here.
This is what u get for sacking a coach that..
*Served you without penny for years
    * Paying his back room staffs from his pocket
    * Meeting all his target till he got sacked(I have never heard this before)
    God No dey sleep o!
With no pattern as some fans used to say, Rohr will surely Qualify.
Musa wanted the last nation’s cup trophy, he didn’t get it
He wanted last world cup, he didn’t get it. Now, we can all see that , Iwobi is the best offensive midfielder we have in Nigeria. Rohr wasn’t a fool.
Bye bye to Balogun, Shehu, Omeruo, Ighalo, even Ekong.
    Let’s start afresh.

Our game actually got worse with the inclusion of Odion and Musa……Musa should please retire with immediate effect. Dennis is average no sense of urgency in his game at allllllllll. They made Eguavoen look like a mess ..

@Dr.Drey… Stop acting like a kid and contribute mature comments here. This is not the time to continue insulting people… Yes it would have been good if we had qualified but we never showed that we where better than Ghana over two legs… Over 180minutes we had no midfield and it comes down to what we have been seen for ages… try other options in inconsequential games. I really never trusted Eguaveon but if Rohr was that good… Why were we struggling to win games. Ghana remains the most formidable opponent we have played in the last 3years in a game of this magnitude…

      • Dennis 2 years ago

@jimmyball stop trying to broker peace. Did you not say that any coach apart from rohr would use our team to win the AFCON and get to round of 16 at the world cup? Did you not crucify rohr for not inviting Nwakali, umar, olayinka, awoniyi, Dennis, amoo etc? Can you tell me what these lots did after being invited? Did you not say uzoho is better than okoye? So what happened today? I’m sad that we failed to qualify but I’m glad because what we all said would happen after the sack of rohr has actually happened. You should bury your head in shame. When was eguaveon appointed as coach and when was addo of Ghana appointed? Is 3 weeks no longer enough to conquer the world? Was the great amuneke not drafted to the coaching crew?

A team that was beaten by Comoros, hammered 3-0 by Algeria and 3-0 by Mali and other is now your most formidable opponent.

I guess it was your 32 rotten teeth Rohr was coaching when we qualified for 2018 WC with a game to sapre with 5 points lead beating everyone including the then AFCON defending champions home and away.

I guess it was your 32 rotten teeth Rohr was coaching when we qualified for 2019 AFCON with a game to spare despite losing our 1st match.

I guess it was your 32 rotten teeth Rohr was coaching when we qualified for 2021 AFCON with 2 SOLID GAMES TO SPARE despite being owed 2 years bonuses.

I guess it was your 32 rotten teeth Rohr was coaching when we lost in the last 2nd of the 96th minute to champions Algeria in 2019 AFCON and won Tunisia in the 3rd place to claim a bronze after missing 2 consecutive AFCONs……LMAOOooo

@Pompei ; I cannot agree less with you, it is better the team failed to qualify than going to the WC and messed up as done 4 years ago ; wasting tax payers money and enriching NFF with WC appearance allowance and connivance with corrupt quack coach like Oga Rohr who could not produce One single reliable goalkeeper in 6 wasted years, No single playmaker in 6 years , No single one Free kick player and 7 winger.

I have said it severely, that Eguafon is an upgraded local version of Oga Rohr ( we have seen last games of both Coaches here in Nigeria Rohr struggled 1-1 draw with blood pressure going 250 , same also Eguafon with Ghana 1-1 with same myopic goalkeeping problems in particular).

The team should not only be disbanded, but the entire corrupt NFF should be handed over to EFCC for taken tribalism and corruption to the unprecedented level

Because Eguafon can’t take total responsibility or blame ; was he paid 10% of Oga Rohr Salary? If not why would he have been wasted his time with a Sunday- Sunday football rich player like Igahalo whom he knows quite well he cannot be trusted to play a high competitive games as Ghana match that have been our greatest strongest albatross?

Why would they have added to the inefficiency of Eguafon with a goalkeeping trainer as Agu whose best goalkeeper is a John Noble of the world that is a reserved player in Eyimba football club ?

Congrats to Victor Mosses that refuses to play again under the erstwhile Oga Rohr having seen he was not better local club coach , and also Mr Yes-Sir Eguafon

Aribo isn’t a bad player but this game shows how underrated Iwobi is in the Super Eagles team. Sacking Gernot Rohr is the biggest mistake NFF has ever made. The consequence is so huge. We got eliminated in the second round of the Afcon, we couldn’t beat Ghana at home to qualify for the world cup. All this massive failures happened within 3 months!

  • Golden Child 2 years ago

The Clergy man from Ota was reported to have called some of his pastors a blatant failure! Bishop come see them for our Technical Bench.

  • chinedu 2 years ago

Wooooow, this is the worst display have ever seen coming from the super Eagles. The Eagles at the Afcon is different from this ones I saw today. Ghana was crap in this game. There was no sense of urgency from us. The only person that came out to play was oshimen. The crosses were just terrible. At least Musa tried with his. Aribo, Bassey, didn’t give anything in this game. Dennis with all the hype was just dancing around the ball, same with Moses Simon. No this team looked like the flying eagles playing. Not professional by some of this players. Are we saying there is no keeper in the whole of Nigeria that can be looked in.

At the end of the day, there was nothing the coach could have done. He would not enter the field and play the game.

    • Ajaxco 2 years ago

Who invited them? How can a reasonable coach have more strikers than midfielders? You need to play in the midfield, he can’t do shit for sure, when he looks at the bench, he will see all the strikers he invited.
The selection is not just balance to play Ghana, you need to hold them in the midfield, not wing.
Austin is an idiot that only boast.

Nigerians are arrogant people. We like to fool ourselves. Many Nigerians believe is that we have the best set of players in the world. Some even say we can win the WC lol. When Rhor said we don’t have players in big teams we want to crucify him. Our minister of sport the worse sport minister since Nigeria became sovereign nation was running mouth. Abusing the old man. Breeze has blown we have seen chicken bombom. Thank you all the haters of GR. We seen how much you all love 9ja.

  • We finally failed with our own 2 years ago

Atleast we now know that our coach spends hours online searching for his 1st eleven.Nigeria lost the moment that lineup was released.the good thing now is that in just one line up,the coach satisfied almost every body who wants this and that to start,he even got the supposed best nigerian coach they have been clamouring for as the as his assistant. Today’s game was so sexy I almost orga*m.lol. Those our statistician, when last did we score from open play….the only truth I can gather from the turnout of events is that the nff truly avoided impending disaster as they said….we no go hear say players dey fight for worldcup bonus…..make I go on my TV,I can’t wait for lai Mohamed to blame it on pdp 16 yrs misrule

Stupidity at highest level, why do we always invite long list of strikers, for a football games that requires midfielders? Inviting players that can’t contribute nothing.
A reasonable team invites maximum 5 strikers, but we have Osihmen, Ighalo,Chukwueze,Sadiq,Musa Simon,Lookman,Dennis,Iheanacho vs Bonke,Etebo,Onyeka? Just 3 midfielders cos Amoo and Aribo are just creative midfielders.
Naa which idiot call himself technical advisor dey make this kind unbalance team?
    Them come dey blame Rohr.

  • Gernot Rohr finally got justice. Nigeria never learns. I repeat again no Nigerian coach is
Worth coaching the super eagles. This failure started from imposing inexperience Joseph yobo on the team then Eguavoen who is known failure to alloy agu then the chief culprit Babalawo bearded looking pinnick who has killed the game with his corruption. It shall never be well with them all put together

Please whats the justice that he got. Qualify us with games to spare and go to tournament proper and not win anything. So what justice did he get. Are this not some of the players he had for 6 years. What changed

  • I must add, Nigeria is currently under a curse with Buhari as supervisor. See all the sad news on the Abuja-Railway line and then this (If only had left that overhead kick for Lookman behind him). Congrats to Ghana, but this is beyond ability. Anything Buhari touches is a mess. I’m afraid it might be so until he leaves next year.

Waisted six years of Nigerian football. No home-based was developed except the worst home based goalkeeper following the team up and down. Eguavoen is the worst student of Westerhof. So my good friend Omo9ja, what name do you now want to call your own?
    Mr. No Nonsense?
    Mr. No Sense?
    Abi na Mr. Nonsense?
You clamoured for the sacking of the best thing to happen to our football in the last decade, Gernot Rohr. A man who brought us success we had no business experiencing. A man who qualified us to tournaments with games to spare, even though we have the worst football administration in the history of world football. Managing to get us decent results, even though he went unpaid for months!
Now, we sacked him. Get a proper coach to replace him, na lie. We assembled a CONSORTIUM OF FAILED, CLULESS coaches, and the result is, God willing, WE WILL ALL BE WATCHING THE WORLD CUP ON TV LATER IN THE YEAR.
I will try to get a nice, large TV for my viewing convenience.
TV’s are also on sale at the Alaba market. Ask for the PARTEY discount, and you will get one half off, and they might even throw in a free TV.
Now Equavoen is free to continue eating his sweet dodo, the thing you accused him of eating. They always have dodo at the NFF cafeteria, abi?
Omo9ja, you now have your wish. We have tried our own, and we have failed woefully with our own. Total, calamitous, disastrous failure.
    We move!

  • JimmyBall 2 years ago

…with Eguaveon appointed… I had my premonitions that the guy has really never done anything positive in Coaching. He lacks real technical sagacity and has failed on several occasions… it is true that we should never reinforce failure…

People like me have a large heart for shock… it is time for a new era. Balogun, Ekong, Musa, Ighalo, SAkeyi, hehu and all our goalkeepers should just give way for a new team… the goal that beat Uzoho was very embarassing after he did well in the first leg…

…what a shame! We had no trusted midfield for 5years and likewise no good goalkeeper… e pain me but I am over it. We would have shown that we deserve to be at the world cup by outclassing Ghana… we couldnt over 180minutes…

In a nutshell you win and lose is the name of the game. And for me I will leave the technical crew alone and give them time to go back to the drawing board. • Omo9ja 2 years ago

Congratulations to Ghana. They deserved it.

For Nigeria, I have warned you. You can’t Football under Amaju. He have to go.

Why did Nigeria fail to the world cup?

The answer is very simple, NFF.

N01. I am be saying this for a long period of time that Agu should be replaced as a goalkeeper trainer but NFF did not listen. Now, Agu have done his worst.

Oga Rohr deserved to be fired. We should thank God that he wasn’t in charge today, it could have been worse. His last two to three matches showed that he needed to be replaced.

N02. Coach Eguavoen have letting us down again. I wasn’t surprised though if you people noticed me. I saw this coming and I have warned him but he failed because he didn’t do the job because he love Nigeria but his pocket.

Ghana wasn’t good enough to beat Nigeria but the coaching crew wasn’t good enough to win anything.

Amunike and Eguavoen wasn’t get along in both legs. No communications among
the two coaches. I said this after the first leg and today, same thing happened.

As a good coach, Nwobodo, Adeleye, Osagwe, Dessers would have made the difference in today’s match but why NFF and the coaching crew did not have these players available?

If you know you know ooo. All we are seeing is Ighalo, Akpeyi, and John Noble and you are expecting to go to the world cup with these players? Chai. Now, Amaju and his company eyes have opened yakata.

Nigerians are the problem of Nigeria period.

All in all, the coaching department should be scrap.

The current NFF should be overhaul.

If Cisse could win the Afcon and qualified his country to the world cup, it is a shame that Nigeria has failed to produce one of the ex players to achieve Cisse’s achievements.

Cisse and their FA are transparent but our ex players and NFF are not. That is the difference between both Nations today. The one that honest to is country went through while the one that keep deceiving is nation have failed to qualify to the world cup. You reap what you sow NFF/Amaju/Our own.

Solution to the problem, Olofinjana should step in as a new coach and he should be allowed to bring his crew in while Agu should be replaced. The current NFF should be fired. Case closed. God bless Nigeria!!!

    • We have finally failed with our own 2 years ago

Write this date down or save this my comment bcos I’ll bring this comment back in March 30th after Ghana must have added to our woes and sorrows.

It will take more than a miracle for SE to qualify for the WC in Qatar ahead of Ghana.

I’m not bewitching our boys but the truth must be told bcos something most kill a man.

I was expecting Malawi or S.Leone to be our next opponent in round 16 for our boys to have an easy ride which many in this forum can bear me witness. Time without number I was always asking for prayers to avoid Tunisia bcuz I saw a great doom awaiting us but some fellows that were carried away with those cheap success never listened.
They were like “bring on any team and our boys will tear them apart”.
We can now see the outcome, we’re now enjoying it.

I actually expected our boys to get an easy draw by facing either Mali or DR CONGO, but something must kill a man, boom our long time rival in Ghana.

I see Nigeria being eliminated by Ghana with either away goal rule or head-to-head rule.

Register this in your dairy bcos I’ll definitely remind this forum on March 30th, 2022.

It will take “MORE THAN A MIRACLE” for Nigeria to reach Qatar 2022.

Things that need changing if Nigerian football is to progress

    1. NFF needs a total clear out. Pinnick has been clueless from day 1 and under his leadership, Nigeria is at the lowest ebb in football. Pinnick was quoted as saying that they sacked Rohr to “avert disaster”. lol….. This one is a Tsunami. hahahaha…lol

    2. GK Coach Agu needs to be sacked with immediate effect. In 6 years, he has failed to develop or discover a reliable GK. He is perhaps the biggest reason Nigeria has failed to progress in 2 afcons and now the world cup.

    3. Musa should retire ASAP and exhumed Ighalo should be reburied. Ndidi should have the captains band.

    4. Oyinbo Wall needs to be disbanded. I have consistently complained about sentiments Nigerians share but it falls on deaf ears. Ekong alsois not good enough. We should look at Bassey , Akpoguma, Awaziem and perhaps Ndah as the future in central defense.

    5. We need a new play maker. In 6 years, the coaching crew have failed to find a reliable play maker. This needs to be sorted. Eze would not want to be part of this stinker and as such we need to try Amoo in friendlies and quickly integrate him into the team.

    6. There should be No Local Coaches in the next 20 years! One can not but concede to Rohr supporters that they were right all along. Rohr for all his issues , always qualified Nigeria with games to spare. Now we are back to a stage where to be a super eagles fan, you have to be a mathematician or statistician.

    7. Sport Ministry’s interference should stop immediately. They have the duty of oversight and they should stick to it. Between Piinick & Dare, they both succeeded in dragging our football to the mud. The practice game they had with the SE before a serious qualifier is still fresh in mind.

    8. It is very disconcerting to know that we could be out smarted by little known otto addo and this was presided by our technical director. Wow! It is only fair that he is shown the exit door also, along with the misfits on the technical bench. From Amuneke, Salisu, Aigbogun to clueless Yobo.

@Dr Drey , would you please live up to your name and what you claim to be in real life , supposed erudite and highly expose in the western world for that matter ( why would insult @ JimmyBall’s family ? ) just because of your frustration over the clueless Rohr who ended up destroying our soccer , given us these set of bunch of embarrassing goalkeepers ( the likes of John Noble @ Co )

Tell me any of Rohr’s regulars that was dropped in the two games except Iwobi that was not qualified to play in this game simply because the best he could do was to walk straight into red card ?

What of the Sunday-Sunday footballer Igahalo that Rohr’s local version Eguafon also clamoured for ( what has payed in his last game with Rohr and this last game ? ) didn’t I said severally that Igahalo was not invited for football reason but the money he bring to help the unpaid coaches ( what has he paid when he eventually enter ,? Even Musa as bad as he was and much maligned by Nigerian fans , he made better impact than the Sunday- Sunday football Igahalo . when voiced out against him , and also said it severely that Rohr could not produce just one average goalkeeper ( have we not been justified with the shambolic performances of the two goalkeepers that messed up the entire team efforts ?)

Lastly; your Oga Rohr , please after his dismissal just as he was summarily sacked in his last 3 countries with a shameful records that only a super corrupt as our own NFF lead by Fraud-Pinnick would have allowed him near the bench of their female football team let alone their main team ( who is that corrupt and fool nation as ours that gives Oga Rohr Job in Africa ? As I know his home country wouldn’t have allowed him near their U17 team as assistant coach let alone U20 team as a coach )

Please, grow up , we are here to exchange notes, interact with one another, not abusing ourselves and family members; as a highly educated you always claim, please let is reflect in your act here

This is truly a Nigerian problem, same way apc blames pdp for every bad thing even though pdp is not in power is the same way you have chosen to blame a man sacked 3 months ago for Nigeria’s failure to qualify

    • JimmyBall 2 years ago

@DeStar… Don’t mind @Dr.Drey… Infact Rohr was spared this embarrassment by being sacked. We would not have made it with the sort of players we have. We could not show we were better than Ghana over 180minutes… We could not score. We can have the best coach in the world but if we have players who can’t stand up to be counted… players that can’t cross the ball, can’t play positive football, we are still going nowhere. Our problem is football administration… What is Etebo, who only came back from injury recently doing getting invited? It’s the God of players like Nwakaeme, Olayinka, Dessers and even Awoniyi not to mention Paul Onuachu that caught up with us… See all corner pick we played over two legs… nobody to connect it to goal. We don’t deserve to go to world cup just for participation sake… Amoo was benched for an effective Aribo. Those foreign-borns from England like Aribo can’t play African soccer… falling on the turf like kids. Congratulations to Ghana. Anthony Nwakaeme shouted that he can help Nigeria against Ghana but they said he is local champion of a weak league… Yet Musa keeps getting invited.

  • My brothers, let’s stop fighting ourselves here, we are not d enemies, we are not d ones stealing money. D stress alone in naija is so much that it can make one go crazy and all we asked for was just win d game and put a smile on our faces today. Exactly what we are saying is ; there is no differences between 6 and half dozen of Oga Rohr and his upgraded local version Eguafon which clearly showed in their last 2 games.

  • pompei 2 years ago

    A new era has begun.
The result is a disaster, but it is better than qualifying for the world cup and becoming a punching bag for other better prepared countries, conceding truckloads of goals. Imagine taking goalies like Okoye and Uzoho to the world cup? Playing heart attack football?
I tell you guys, not qualifying is perhaps the best thing we are going to get from this situation. Let Ghana go and collect at the world cup, instead of us.
Imagine what countries like Spain, Belgium, England, France, Brazil, Argentina would have done to Nigeria if we had managed to qualify? We would have seen scores reaching up to 10 nil, and maybe even more against us! I know how bad I feel when Nigeria concedes a goal. I feel even worse when it’s at the world cup. The anxiety and fear that Nigerians would have experienced if these hapless team had qualified? Many might even get sent to an early grave due to the numerous heart attacks and strokes that would have happened. God forbid.
Let’s now get our house in order.
    1) Sack everybody that needs to be sacked asap. All the current coaches need to go real quick. Eguavoen may go back to his “Technical Director” position. He will be replaced when the current leadership of the NFF is voted out of office.
    2) Pinnick and company can’t be sacked, per FIFA regulations. They need to be voted out of office.
    3) We’ve got some good players. But the SE needs new blood. Some new faces need to come in.
    4) Time to once again begin the hunt for a new coach. A FOREIGN COACH WITH SKIN AS WHITE AS POSSIBLE. THE WHITER, THE BETTER.
The coach may not be our own. We don’t mind. In fact, the less he looks and behaves like the typical Nigerian, the more desirable he becomes for the job.
If he is not white, then he must be thoroughly grounded in football knowledge and tactics.

Oh no Ghana were such a Bully to our Boys today. After the match Abdullahi sef collect from 1 or 2 of Ghana players b4 they were separated at our home ground for that matter. That really got me laughing after the terrible feelings and suspense for the 90 minutes. Thank God those thieves at the NFF didn’t lay their hands on the FIFA Qualification fund bcos they will embezzle the money ni. Going fwd, all of them should be sacked or voted out of office. The whole SE Coaches/Technical crew should be relieved of their duties.

Appoint someone like Carlos Quieroz with the whole talents and stars in the Senegal team, he still manage to pull up a decent performance only lost based on Pk shoot out. Bearing in mind that Egypt gat an average team. Salah is the only world class player they have. The rest are just average players.

Lastly, Cpt Musa, Ighalo, Abdullahi, Ekong & Balogun should pls rest. Make we know those wey remain.

On final note, congratulations to the black stars. They sure deserve the victory

  • Segue odegbami go come write nonsense again.

Nigeria problem is that the elders are corrupt stupid and incompetent

  • @pompei nice one. Anyone dat deserves to go should pack up and leave. One question to us here bcs I don’t understand, DOES IT MEAN WE, NAIJA DONT HAVE MONEY TO HIRE AN EXPERIENCED COACH?

    • KangA 2 years ago

You’ve asked an important question I’ve often wondered about over time. The local word of wisdom is: ‘Good soup na money’.

Our problem is poverty mindset in the midst of plenty. If you engage an international coach and pay him $100,000.00 per month, someone with foul mouth/poisoned pen like Odegbami would convert the amount into the local currency and start a campaign to sack the fellow. His reasoning would be that you need only pay one-tenth of the money to a local coach, and he’ll do the same job. What he won’t tell you is that local coach can never produce the same result as the sound foreign coach.

We should blame people like Odegbami and co who sold us the idea of sacking Rohr. We even tried to reason with him, but he plucked his ears with his fingers. How could a true Nigerian leader hate foreigners? Nigerians are some of the most travelled and mobile Africans. Go all nooks and corners of the world, you find Nigerians settled there offering their services. And yet you develop this hatred for foreign coaches?

Rohr was treated unfairly. We’re suffering the injustice we inflicted on him.

  • I wish to salute Osimhen for his
relentless effort and fighting spirit. Mr Eguavoen you tried your best (though not good enough), PICNIC LED NFF MUST GOOOOOOOOO!!!

We need serious reforms in our country’s football institutions and ministry. How can a politician with no football acumen be heading our sports?

No proper player and Coach welfare… Bribe and corruption; you even collect from the players who you are suppose to care for… If a player injures does NFF foot their bills? Even to pay match allowances na problem…. Alot has to change if we want real progress! Reason why top foreign born don’t want to play for SE (…).

Asking for money from a very good player but poor before u allow him/her to represent his nation is very bad (reason we lack quality and depth). So many top talents in Nigeria and abroad but to even play for NPFL is difficult even wen you have the talent….

I thank God Chukwueze and Iheanacho didn’t play, we would have tongue lashed them to death.

We have been shouting here that our goal keeping is a suspect… See it now; Alloy Agu why?

I salute Ademola Lookman (u are a baller)…Eguavoen should have left Lookman and rather replace Dennis and try to stabilise his midfield more. They were not distributing and creating passes properly.
Very slow, dull and sluggish play. (I’m beginning to wonder the kiind of fitness training these boys undergo in training)

African teams now know how to play SE because we are not fast and hagile.

Shehu entered after injury to Frank and our DM crashed and Ghana started pressing. Let’s be sincere, Ndidi and Iwobi are still ahead in the Midfield until we find better options.

A technically sound Coach who will gather fresh young, vibrant and hungry legs both from home and abroad is wat SE need now.
Rohr is gone and gone for good, we move, regardless!!!

Our defenders were very slow and sluggish (Balogun, Ekong and Aina especially), no sense of urgency. Why were our Midfielders always passing backwards?

I think Simon and some few players deliberately were spoiling the ball… Else they should go.. Let hungry talented players step up. See the Ghana young vibrant players dominating so called stars!!!

To be frank, a new Coach who can change the Nigerian football philosophy and mentality is urgently needed.

These sluggish and lazy pattern of football must change!

No more pay to play football in Nigeria again else na here we go dey!!!

    This is a national disgrace!!!

I disagree with you @Pompei. We don’t need a foreign coach. Cisse is not a foreign coach but he won the Afcon trophy and he just qualified Senegal to the world cup today.

What is lacking in Nigeria is honesty and transparency.

Do our leaders love the citizens? Capital NO.

Do citizens loves themselves? Capital NO. Everybody is just doing is thing

Our system is very corrupt. Until we change our attitude.

Imagine, Amaju Pinnick went to begged Ighalo to come and play for Nigeria when we have Dessers.

Onazi name was even included on the list.

Amaju and NFF are the problems which we have to replace them.

Oga Rohr did his shabby work during his time but just because we had Mikel, Moses and other quality players then, Nigeria made it to tournaments with ease, Oga Rohr started struggling. So, no much difference between Oga Rohr and Coach Eguavoen.

I hope Edoman is very satisfied with the result now? Amaju must gooooo.

Shebi you preferred to see Ighalo against Ghana than world cup ticket.

We need to change our mindset if we to get it right. We have Nigerian coaches abroad we can hire but it won’t be under the current NFF. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!

Useless Drunkard. Omo ale omo irankiran oshi.

Cisse went to get as many as 6 white guys to assist him before he could win AFCON in his 3rd attempt and his 8th year as Senegal’s coach.

The last time I checked, Moses and Mikel excused themselves from his team after 2018…So how did we qualify for 2019, 2021 and 2022 playoffs seamlessly……I guess it was your family members that played under him in all those assignments…..LMAOoo

The same players Rohr was using to do a yeoman’s job despite being starved of anything that looks like support are the same players your useless MR NONSENSE technical director used to birng disaster on us at both AFCON and WC playoffs despite being giving 1000% support.

What an Olodo Technical Director….LMAOoooo. Dem don solve all the question give you…..just copy, olodo still no pass 2 TIMES…..LMAOooooo

      Mr Nononsense My foot. Egua-failure

Congratulations to you now that you liars united and bunch of regressive have succeeded in taking our football 40 years backwards.

May God take the lives of al of you 40 years backwards too.

      Bunch of animals

    • U ppl have come again do u want result or do u want going around in circles. Get a foreign coach abeg. There is no Nigerian coach that can compete internationally. Football has advanced beyond what equaveon and the rest are doing. Cisse is a Paris trained guy born in France. So also this Otto addo born in Germany and working as assistant coach in Dortmund. Look at Nigeria bench the Experience is so poor .

If they had kept Rohr or Peseiro all this story would not have happened

  • pompei 2 years ago

Omo9ja, Cisse is not a foreign coach. But he is also not a Nigerian.
Of course, I would love a Nigerian coach to handle the team.
However, what I don’t want is us getting a coach simply because he is our own, or Nigerian. No.
We need a competent, capable coach. If we can’t find a Nigerian competent enough for the job, then let’s get him elsewhere.
I insist that I don’t have a problem with a white-skinned coach. In fact, based on what has transpired in the last 3 months, the whiter the skin of the coach, the better for us.
If Rohr had been at the helm, you and I know he would have secured this world cup ticket.
We need to clean house. Starting with sacking these coaches and their staff.
Then the big one: voting out the current NFF when it’s time for the next elections.

    • JimmyBall 2 years ago

@Pompei… Egypt had Carlos Queiroz on USD100k and still lost. Ghana that edged have a Ghanain young coach Addo though born and raised in Germany. We failed because we had a lot of players for whom the Super Eagles have been made their parlours and sitting room… were actually thinking we could achieve anything with the calibre of players we have? They are just clearly average… it is the reason why some of us have been shouting for players like Nwakaeme, Olayinka, Dessers and even Awoniyi. Players like Iheanacho, Chuwkwueze, Musa,Ekong, Balogun, Shehu, Ighalo, Aribo and even Ola Aina are just bunch of overrated ones… we hyped them up for too long… it is sad that for over 6years we had no good goalkeeper… this team was inherited from Gernot Rohr and even him, stared laboring with results towards the tail end… did we deserve to be in the world cup ahead of Ghana… if did not… because we never could convince we did over 180minutes against Ghana… Italy, Algeria will sit it out like us too…

  • SE needs rebuilding starting from tomorrow, we the fans are tired and NFF, d only way we can even start to think of healing is by you NFF to start shopping for a suitable replacement for SE. When we say suitable don’t bring anyhow coach to us. NFF wetin we do una, don’t we deserve to watch football without high BP? Start tomorrow by clearing out, and find us a very very good coach that can handle the SE . You have the money to pay any coach we want, this thing of no money is big time bull. We need a foreign coach for now and we need a humble local coach dats willing to study and.learn from the foreign coach. The problem we have is any ex player that gets a small certificate for coaching, wants to be d chief coach of SE, nobody wan learn.Pride everywhere in naija and dats why we dey fail. Like I said NFF from tmrw clear out d coaching crew and all d fans want to see are names of.foreign coaches dat might be hired. This is d only way we can even start healing. I no watch d game bcs I just wasn’t sure of d outcome but even at dat e still dey pain me. Cameroonian coach just qualify them, na which kind bad luck we get. NFF the only healing.proces are these

1 All SE coaching crew fired
2 SE are going hire these coaches ,u detail the names for us
3 Get the person and.lets start rebuilding
4 No.more NFF interference in team selections. Na wetin happen, why must everyone be a coach in Naija.
5 please the players that have been in SE for so long, let me not mention names, in America we say when u are retired, THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE.We thank you guys but pls it’s time to let go so we rebuild.
South Africa, ivoary coast have started der rebuilding process, let us start now

We need names of coaches today today bcs der might come a time when d fans are fed up, u will have a good coach, good team but no fans to.cheer dem.bcs we don tire and then na una go dey beg us.

    Haba!
Ah, I feel shame and not just for the football we played, but mostly and even more so for Nigerians
Am I really hearing what I am hearing?
So many are calling for a white/Foreign coach??
    Ha! o mase o!
So the implication being that a white man is somehow better than a black man? Is that what is being said here?
Are you saying that they are cleverer?, more intelligent? more handsome? Is it that they understand football more? or did God create their brains better than those of black and other indigenous people? Are you saying that because you see their countries developed, you therefore immediately concede defeat without any real understanding of what, why and how? No understanding of who WE are and absolutely no interest in knowing?
Is this not the REAL problem of our people and the MAIN reason why some still find it easy to monopolise power and wealth in our country thereby having an enduring and devastating effect on the state of the Nation as a whole??
Please people of CSN and fellow Nigerians, regardless of all the fighting and cursing and all the complete lack of etiquette and frankly ridiculous and sometimes even comical shenanigans that carry on in here – can we brothers truly not see the point trying to be made here?
Is it possible that some truly do not understand that things are not as most of us see and understand them to be? Don’t get me wrong, I am not here trying to cast blame or shame on anyone, everyone is a product of their life’s experiences and each individual experience is valid, unique and deserves respect and protection, so it’s not a case of validity of experiences but the ACTUAL TRUTH of existence – We need to educate en-mass about these things and change mindsets throughout society as a FIRST AND ABSOLUTELY CRUCIAL STEP in the journey back, my fear however is CAN THIS EVER BE DONE? with so much irrational and self inhibiting opposition from society at large?
Even just on here, people understandably are angry after the loss to Ghana and are lashing out, but it’s what they are focusing on that is scary, it shows they are not even in the building, let alone present and part of the force to bring Nigeria up again – people are fighting about the colour of the next coach??
If I ask people on here, a question –
WHAT WAS THE COLOUR OF JESUS (for those who believe) – many on here will say he was white, but actually he could not have been, what I say is who cares what colour he was anyway? the essence of this is Do you get the concept? Do you believe in Him yourself?
If you do, then appearances become what they really are- redundant to an extent because it’s what’s lies within that really powers you and that’s what will power us if we only broaden our minds and stop being the gift that continues to give – a self fulfilling prophesy, we can rise up! And We know how to do it, we know what to do so why are we not even trying?? What we are doing is actively pulling the other way!, so in effect those who out of evil, greed and murderous audacity started this divide and conquer to get their way are still collecting full rent! even today, many years later…almost another Aeon!
When even they had packed up and are long gone, still their rotten and depraved system is still firmly in place? This is an absolute travesty!

Our people are sleep walking right back into captivity, this has been a trait of ours for the longest time – even when we were first freed from Egypt, but many don’t know nothing about any of that ba? All they know is what they were told when they watched the film where Charlton Heston led all the slaves away across the Red Sea with the help of YHWH abi no be so?
    Anyway, I must round up-
Please respect yourselves and stop calling for a white coach, you are trying to embarrass your own selves, and take that in a constructive frame of mind.
Ah ah, is Otto Addo the Ghana coach white? Senegal are also in, is their coach white? Please stop all this display of mental slavery, our people’s minds need emancipation, only us can do it for ourselves, no one else will, it’s not in their interest but will be in ours.
Let’s have a mindset of excellence and of who we are, if you don’t know who you are you will forever be lost and a slave!
Let the best man for the job get the job, that’s the only way we’re going to have the best team we can possibly have and is that not every man’s dream?
In fact, the best man does not even have to be the best one on paper and all that, when some managers started, they had not even played much football or at all, my point is – let’s do away with unwarranted, non-beneficial bureaucracy, bureaucracy in our state is mediocrity because it was not designed as it is for our own present situation – we are at a stage now where we need to get things done! We need to stop sleep walking and wake up!
Very finally – Someone needs to tell Osimhen that heart and courage and outward emotional displays are good but must be controlled and channelled the right way, I was so angry at him yesterday! He should have scored at least 3 solid goals if it were not for his stupid glory seeking ignorance and complete lack of presence of mind, lack of understanding of the situation, lack of calmness of thought and action – all these things are needed as a minimum if you want to be successful, why on earth he TWICE went to execute a very tight overhead volley when he had full view of goal and could and should have just left the first one for the man behind him to tap in and the second one he should have taken a touch and then found the net!
That was truly irresponsible behaviour in such a vital situation as a last gasp qualification scenario for the world cup and you make those decisions?
No! not for me, I am not a fan …yet! Osimhen, He needs to stop all the gra gra for me, calm down and be more present in mind, see things more clearly, develop more ice in your veins in front of goal, you are aiming to be a top striker, take heed now! it’s the only way to build your legacy Osimhen my son
    Come on Nigeria!!

    • I get ur point respectfully, but I want to ask, who amongst out local coaches should take over d SE?

      • Field Marshall. General. Sir Johnbob 2 years ago

        @Iyke
Thank you – I wouldn’t ask the question that way, I think by starting out saying who among our local coaches should take over is (respectfully) a naive way to look at things, we are already defining the parameters of this appointment before even considering the crucial qualities we will need in a coach who will have a high probability of success – It is not a question of “who amongst our local coaches”
It should be- Now we are looking for a new coach – we already know what steps that will involve and we are mindfully ready for what we need to achieve – we ensure we already know how the new coach will be paid, and all other employment details and peculiarities put firmly in place – in short money/wages, assistants wages etc are all sorted beforehand, then we ask what kind of coach/man do we want and need, his CV will play a role, so will his character, recent history, knowledge and his understanding of the situation on ground – starting with our (SE’s) main pain points – in other words, what are our main problems? what are we lacking in both on and off the field, I for one would put “Mentality” at the top of the list anyway @Iyke
My guy, as you can see, that question you asked may be very easy to ask, but the answer is nowhere near as easy to answer as it is to ask
Bottom line is our search for a coach should not be based on the colour of the man’s skin, I don’t care where the best man ends up coming from, what is important is that the process and procedures undergone to search out, identify and appoint the new coach are done professionally and with excellence and only excellence in mind and as a motivating factor, if the best man is found in Nigeria (having gone through, survived and excelled at a very gruelling interview and selection process), then so be it, if he is found in Canada or Kenya or South Africa or anywhere and whether he is black, white or blue, I would not have a care in the world as long as he is chosen on merit with our specific requirements in mind
Having said that however, I must also add that even if all my recommendations about this are carried out, it will all still be in vain and fail because the rest of the system and infrastructure surrounding it and being a crucial factor towards it’s success are rotten and not fit for purpose so the new manager and system in place will stand absolutely no chance of success – It is like putting one good apple in a basket of rotten apples and you will very quickly see that good apple be overwhelmed and join the rest becoming rotten also

  • pompei 2 years ago

    Field Marshall,
Your comment is noted and respected.
However, the issue is not that of the superiority of the white man over the black man.
I personally believe that all men are equal before their creator.
The issue is hiring the VERY BEST OUR MONEY CAN BUY for the SE coaching position.
If the best we can afford happens to be a white person, which is likely going to be the case given the time we are in global football history, we must do the needful and go for the best. And historically, we seem to fare better under white coaches. Not because they are superior intellectually, but because they are less corrupt and/or less corruptible.
I’m not implying that all white people are straightforward. I’m just saying in the Nigerian experience of hiring coaches, the white ones seem to be more trustworthy, competent and transparent. It is what it is.
So, for me, I am ready to accept anyone, as long as they are competent.
But I must say that at the moment, the whiter the person applying for the job is, the more comfortable I am with that person as SE coach. Call me a reverse racist. I don’t care. All I care about for our football is the SE’s success, which means winning matches, winning trophies, and qualifying for major tournaments.
Let our next coach be whiter than an A4 printing paper. My brother, as long as he demonstrates competence on the job, I will support the heck out of him.
If we can find a competent, transparent Nigerian to do the job, that would be fantastic!
But I’m afraid that looking for a Nigerian like that at this time in our history would be even harder than looking for a needle in a haystack as big as the city of Lagos.
Nigerian coaches unfortunately are unapologetically corrupt, for the most part. The honest ones are so few, they don’t count statistically.
Among other corrupt activities, they tend to lean towards inviting “their players” to the national team. Relatives, players from academies they are connected with, players recommended to them from “oga at the top”, players they have agency agreements with, and so on.
On the other hand, the white coaches tend to base their invitations on merit.
The Nigerian coaches are perhaps forced to sully their hands with bribes, because the NFF is not forthcoming with decent contract terms including salary payments. So the problem is largely coming from the NFF.
The white coaches typically have better working contracts, and can thus “afford” to insist on merit. But even the white coaches are often victims of the NFF’s chronic debtorship and penchant for player interference.
Perhaps we will develop our moral character in the next 10 or 20 years, such that we can then entrust sensitive positions like SE coach to a Nigerian. But for now, our experience shows that insisting on hiring only Nigerians is a risky move with very little if any reward. Let’s play it safe and hire the very best our money can buy. regardless of where they hail from. If he happens to be Nigerian, fine. If not, so be it.

  • Field Marshall. General. Sir Johnbob 2 years ago

    @pompei
Bro, may your days be long –
We are pretty much saying the same things, apart from one MAIN thing where we differ.
The basic nuts and bolts are-

A system based and founded on professionalism and efficiency, honesty and integrity

A development and broadening of our “national moral character” – This is also double edged as it is also the way to be able to breed and develop these excellent individuals that our society needs including Coaches and Managers and NFF Heads and Leaders of Industry and Politicians (True there are no trustworthy politicians in the real world) but that’s a whole other issue and we’ll cross that bridge if and when we ever get there
I also said that I would accept anyone as long as they are competent but I wouldn’t go as far as to say the whiter they are the more comfortable I am with their appointment and while I get your general drift (I am also a Nigerian after all so not to would be a lie or some sort of self delusion) but I would like to suggest you look at it a different way – Believing that because it will be very difficult to find an honest Nigerian coach which is true- but it tells only half the story and it paints a very unfair half of the story, for whites to use it against us is a crime and for us to use about ourselves is self perpetrating that same crime and embedding it in our people’s psyche-

If the white man too has the same history as we have and had been through the same conditions which have created Nigerian society today then he would also be guilty of the same charge today, so we must look at these things objectively and do away with subjectivity and emotional responses

Oyinbos too can be and in many case are as corrupt as a Nigerian can be (I know you also know that) but just making a point that the only reason why their own corruption does not seem so bad is simply because they have a functional system that deals with and swiftly punishes and disables any such behaviour or any other unlawful behaviour at all for that matter so practically nobody – not even your politicians, Kings or Queens, Celebrity, President, Governor, Prime Minister, Government Police, Army, no one (you get my drift) is above the law in these countries so things are better and there is more value in everything, society as a whole, but if you have a system like ours in Nigeria that is a kangaroo state where the law of the jungle reigns and it is survival of the fittest with the fittest being the richest then corruption will not only be allowed, it will be rife.
It is not only our indigenous coaches who invite “their” players and I’m sure you also know that, Rohr did the same and even back then in Westerhoff and Bonfrere days, that was going on, even in Europe among the whites that goes on, the only difference being what the motivation behind it is?
In other cases it might be loyalty to a particular player for what he /she had done and achieved for the team or nation in the past, others for their presence, who they are etc there are any number of reasons why this can legitimately go on, it is only when it is going on for money and selfish personal gain and to the detriment of the team and National at large then that is a crime
We don’t know why Rohr Invited Noble or do we? and others, even if a coach wants to involve their selves in such muddy behaviour but if the system in place is robust and fit for purpose then we both know that that behaviour will not be going on if managers are called out and sacked for such dodgy behaviours, then it would not be happening in the first place would it
All in all, we are all looking for ways to make things better in and for our country
But I would like to warn us to beware of what we wish for and not to put any body on an undeserved pedestal just because they are white or not “local”/indigenous –
The saying – A prophet is not recognised in his own land is very true and though Nigeria is a “special” case, we are not unique and need not be ashamed, it is the same over most of the continent, what WE must do is work hard to get to grips with our own situation and start addressing it – it can be done
