Chelsea coach, Thomas Tuchel has raised concerns about Romelu Lukaku’s fitness, claiming he is physically and mentally tired.
The Belgium forward rejoined Chelsea from Inter Milan in August for a fee of around £97 million, seven years afer his first spell at Stamford Bridge ended.
The 28-year-old impressed in the early weeks of the season but his form has dipped and he has not scored for Chelsea since mid-September.
Tuchel, speaking ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League match against Swedish side Malmo, said his players were still adjusting to having Lukaku in the team.
“This will increase every day because we are in the process of adapting to each other,” he said. “In the moment, in my opinion, I feel Romelu is a bit overplayed.
“I think he played too many competitions over the summer, too many competitions with the national team. Now he plays the Nations League (Belgium finished fourth at the finals earlier this month).”
“It means a lot for him to play for his country so he takes it really seriously,” he added.
“If that does not work well he always puts it on his shoulders, he thinks about it, he reflects about it and I feel he is a bit mentally tired, not like hugely that we have a concern.”

And that’s an authority, Tuchel talking. Only recently some scallywags were attempting comparing the Nigerian striker to the tired mentality. Who in his right senses would even compare the more active Norwegian, Erling Haaland to Victor Osimhen talk more of a sleeping lukaku? If I hear pem.

They don’t need all those sorts of rash hash criticism, which only goes to do more harm than good if we truly care for such players. Lukaku is a top top player, only experiencing that natural blip and will come back stronger. @Glory people tend to forget that in football, players have a dip in form which is natural. Even the best players in the world had their moments and that is why players like Messi and Ronaldo were special in their prime because they barely had a dip in form. Mohammed Salah has scored 104 premiership goals, won the African footballer of the year twice and most likely a 3rd soon. If we can remember Salah was so dissapointing during his time at Chelsea and had to be sold but guess who is the most dangerous player in the premiership?

These players are human beings and have normal lives like everyone else. They might have other issues besides football that are impacting negatively on their performance, so better to either go silent/pray on them if we can’t support them in their trying moments.
