Madine Seeks Permanent Cardiff Exit

Gary Madine has reportedly indicated that he wants to leave Cardiff on a permanent basis and join Sheffield United this summer.

The 28-year-old forward helped Cardiff secure promotion to the Premier League after joining from Bolton during the second half of last season, but, after featuring just five times in the top-flight, he was sent out on loan to Sheffield United in January.

Although not a regular starter with the Blades, Madine was able to score three goals in 16 appearances as Chris Wilder’s side earned promotion from the Championship and they will, therefore, be swapping places with Cardiff next season.

Madine has reportedly let it be known that he wants to join United on a permanent basis and he will seek to hold talks with the hierarchy at Bramall Lane over the coming days.

However, Madine is under contract with Cardiff until the summer of 2021 and the Bluebirds may want the former Sheffield Wednesday player to spearhead their promotion push next season. A lot could depend on whether Neil Warnock is still in charge of Cardiff next season, although Bluebirds chairman Vincent Tan has previously indicated that he wants the 70-year-old to remain at the helm.
