Madrid Eyeing Up Icardi

Real Madrid are reportedly keen on securing a deal for Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi, with the player unhappy at his current club.

Los Blancos sensationally reappointed former boss Zinedine Zidane on Monday following the sacking of Santiago Solari due to poor form in both La Liga and the Champions League.

Reports suggest Zidane only agreed to return to the Bernabeu after gaining assurances from club president Florentino Perez that money would be released to overhaul the squad. Zidane’s plans seem to be already underway after the club reportedly contacted Icardi’s agent and wife, Wanda Nara, about a potential switch to Madrid in the summer.

He has not figured for Luciano Spalletti’s side for over a month after negotiations over a new contract at the San Siro hit the buffers.

He has also been stripped of the club captaincy, with Samir Handanovic replacing him. A new striker is viewed as a priority at Real Madrid, with the club seeking to sign a long-term replacement for Karim Benzema.

Icardi has scored 109 goals in 179 appearances for the Nerazzurri and is also reportedly being chased by Juventus and Napoli.
