Though Julian Nagelsmann abruptly parted ways with the Bavarians to make room for former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel to take over, this wasn’t enough for the team’s board to convince him to stay.

Following a devastating home loss to Freiburg seven days earlier, the Bavarians were eliminated from the DFB Pokal. In the league match against the same opponent on Saturday, they did manage to get revenge, but only because of Matthijs De Ligt’s stunning goal in what was yet another poor performance from the German heavyweights.
