    Middlesbrough Celebrate Akpom’s Championship Player Of The Season Award

    Middlesbrough have congratulated Chuba Akpom on winning the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Season award on Sunday evening.

    Akpom picked up the award for his outstanding season for promotion-seeking Middlesbrough.

    The 27-year-old has scored 29 goals in 38 games – 28 coming from 33 league starts.

    Akpom has already claimed the award as the first Boro man to score 20 league goals since Bernie Slaven in 1989/90.

    Barring a late flurry of goals elsewhere he will become the first Boro player to scoop the Golden Boot since John Hickton bagged 25 during the 1970/71 Second Division season.

    Also, the former Arsenal man set a new Sky Bet Championship high for successive home strikes when he scored his ninth against Hull City at the Riverside in midweek.

    Commenting on winning the award, Boro wrote on Twitter:”Congrats Chuba Akpom on winning the Sky Bet Championship POTY at the EFL Awards.”

    Aside landing the Player of the season award, Akpom was also named in the Sky Bet Championship Team of the Year.

      AKPOM IS THE BEST NIGERIA ASSISTANT/SUPPORTING STRIKER IN EUROPE FOR NOW. SUPER EAGLE NEED BEST SUPPORTING STRIKER APART FROM MAIN STRIKER: OSIMHEN, MOFFI.
      HE SHOULD STOP WASTING INVITATION ON IHEANACHO,MUSA, ONUACHU OMERUO, AWONIYI, ONUACHU, BAMAIYI. ALL lack regular playing time, lack consistent goal scoring.

      The yardstick for Invitation to national team by any serious and diligent coach are form, consistency and the desire to build a formidable team.if the current coach of super eagles and our football administrators are honest and know what millions of football fans in Nigeria want then Invitation to super eagles will only be extended to players that are performing well in thier various clubs such as akpom, osimihen, moffi ,boniface, etc and not ahmed musa ,onuachu and other bench warmers in thier various clubs.

      @Talk ur own . u have nail the it on the head.I don’t know what else Akpon need to do to prove he is the best support striker for now . Also I don’t know what the NFF is waiting for to extend an invitation to him. Only time will tell

      Akpom is far better then Iwobi right now based on current form. God knows, l love Iwobi of Nigeria but, Akpom is just on fire that’s all. Akpom is also far superiors to Iheanacho too. The worst Nigeria coach should immediately
      invite chuba Akpom to the Nigeria team today.
