Nigeria international Alhassan Yusuf was awarded Man of the Match after netting a hat-trick, as the New England Revolution beat D.C. United 3-0 in Wednesday’s Major League Soccer (MLS) to end a three-game winless run, completesports.com reports.
Yusuf became the eighth player in franchise history to record a hat-trick in the regular season and the first since Kei Kamara on Sept. 2, 2017.
The 26-year-old opened the scoring in the 23rd minute with a header before tapping in a volley, from point-blank range to make it 2-0 in the 45th.
Then in the 66th minute Yusuf completed his hat-trick after nodding home a beautiful floated in cross to make it 3-0.
His hat-trick took his goals in the MLS to five with two assists after 20 games in the current campaign.

Born in Kano, Nigeria, Yusuf arrived in Sweden to participate in a Scandinavian youth cup Gothia cup with tiki-taka academy and after an excellent performance he earned a professional contract with IFK Göteborg.
On 16 July 2021, Belgian club Antwerp announced that they had reached an oral agreement with IFK Göteborg over the transfer of Yusuf.
Yusuf went on to help Antwerp win the Belgian league and cup double with in 2022-23. It was Antwerp’s first league crown in 66 years, having last lifted the title in 1957.
He was part of the Super Eagles squad that finished runners-up at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire.
Also, Yusuf played a key role as the Super Eagles won the 2026 Unity Cup in England.

AND THE GUY CREDIBLY PERFORM WELL IN USA ’94 WORLD CUP MORE THAN EXPECTATION (to the extent that nobody feel / missed the absent of BEN. IROHA).

No Yusuf, he is not good enough we have better playersand up cming options in that position Tochukwu Nnadi can play there with Wilfred Ndidi, who still can play for 2-3 years.
I will still maintain until Today that in AFCON 2024 in Ivory Coast he was the worse player in Semi’s and Finals, he had only 1 good game and that was th Opening game in that tournament. He has not impoved much since then hence he was shipped out to MLS from Europe early. Let us stop wishing mediocre players on SE this guy will leak the Midfield horribly which will affect the Defence against quality teams

For instance the High-level competition, elite opponents they play against, advance and world class training facilities, world class coaches and trainers help in bringing out the very best in them and making them quality players…
