Musa, Chukwueze Dazzle In Super Eagles’ First Training Ahead Benin Clash

Ahmed Musa and Samuel Chukwueze were the top performers on first day of training as the Super Eagles intensify preparation for Saturday’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying tie against Benin Republic, reports Completesports.com.

Musa, who was last featured in a competitive game last November looked sharp in training with no sign of rustiness.

Head coach of the team Gernot Rohr has made it clear the winger will not be selected for the game due to his inactivity at club level, but hecould be forced to change his mind with his captain superb showing in training.

Chukwueze was also at his marauding best moving past with defenders with ease.

The Villarreal winger all things being equal is expected to start against the Squirrels.

He has scored two goals in four appearances in the qualifiers.

If Musa is displaying dazzling moves during training, Oga Rohr should field him. His goals against these wide-mouthed Beninoise will not be canceled because he does not have club affiliations.

I keep telling young folks that what’s in the head and the muscle memory acquired while training the hands are the real assets one has. If you escape and survive a disaster, you carry those resources with you. Musa is carrying his skills in his brain and muscle memory, club or no club.

Allow him to dazzle for us and score goals. If I were Rohr, I would dare that move and write my name in the history books as a coach who brushed off fierce opposition and fielded a skillful player without a club in a crucial match ….and won.

It pains me when people behave sheepishly, copying other people’s steps, never showing any initiatives of their own.

  • Musa should start

  • the pitch is looking great, way better than what we saw in benin
