NPFL Matchday-6: Enyimba, Rivers United Set For War In Aba;  Akwa Target First Win

Former champions, Enyimba will look to pick their second win of the campaign when they face resurgent Rivers United in their matchday-six encounter at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba on Sunday.

The Peoples Elephant are yet to taste victory following their opening day 2-0 home win against MFM.

The Aba giants have recorded two defeats and one draw in their last three games and nothing but a win will boost their chances of winning a record eighth NPFL title this term.

Rivers United who ditched most of their regular stars for new and young players are unbeaten in four league outings so far this season.

Stanley Eguma’s men secured top position in the Group A table on Wednesday after a hard fought 1-0 win against Remo Stars in their rescheduled matchday-one encounter with Wasiu Jimoh netting the winner in the 95th minute.

At the Akure Sports Stadium, also on Sunday, Sunshine Stars who bagged an away win on Sunday against Wikki Tourists will host Remo Stars in the South West Derby.

The home team drew their only home game this season – 1-1 against Rivers United on match-day four, while Remo Stars suffered their first away defeat against Rivers United in the midweek.

MFM will welcome Wikki Tourists to the famous ‘Soccer Temple’ Agege Stadium Lagos, while it will be all northern affair when Katsina United entertain Niger Tornadoes at the impressive Muhammadu Dikko Stadium.

In Group B, surprise leaders, FC IfeanyiUbah have a chance to extend their unbeaten streak when they face Abia Warriors in the oriental derby at the IfeanyiUbah International Stadium, Nnewi.

The Uche Okagbue’s wards who struggled to impress last term have recorded three wins and two draws from their opening five games.

Brazilian tactician, Rafael Everton will be desperate to see his Akwa United side record their first win of the campaign when they file out against Go Round FC at the Akwa Ibom International Stadium.

The Promise Keepers who occupy last position in the Group B log have earned two draws and two defeats from four games.

The Pantami Stadium will be the venue of Gombe United versus Plateau United clash.

Plateau United, who are one of the title favourites have lost one and drew one in two away games this season.

Bendel Insurance earned an away draw (0-0) at Wikki Tourist

The hosts lost 1-0 to Yobe Desert Stars in midweek .The Savanah Scorpions defeated Kano Pillars 2-0 in their last home game.

Four-time champions, Kano Pillars will be up against Nasarawa United at the Sani Abacha Stadium, while El-kanemi Warriors and Yobe Desert Stars will do battle at the El-Kanemi Sports Stadium, Maiduguri.

Heartland have a chance to return to winning ways when they lock horns with Kada City at the Okigwe Township Stadium.
