Enyimba have confirmed that players of the People’s Elephant have been granted an end-of-season break, with 10 June set as the resumption date, Completesports.com reports.
Ifeanyi Ekwueme, Sporting Director of the nine-time NPFL title winners, exclusively told Completesports.com that the players will regroup in two batches, with the first batch hitting camp on 10 June.
The second batch, the former Nigeria international revealed, will return on 17 June. This comes as the ex-Polonia Warsaw of Poland midfielder also disclosed that the second edition of the annual Nwankwo Kanu U19 Tournament will kick off next week, with 12 teams taking part.

Enyimba finished the 2024/2025 campaign in sixth position with 55 points.
“We’ve given the players a break. They will begin to return to camp for preparations ahead of next season in two batches,” Ekwueme told Completesports.com.
“The first batch will return on 10 June, while the second batch will arrive at camp on 17 June. We want to start our preparation for the 2025/2026 season early enough.”
Ekwueme added: “Last season wasn’t quite a pleasant one for us because we didn’t actualise our target. But then, we’re grateful to God for reaching the group stage of the CAF Champions League and finishing in third place, which was good enough to ensure Nigeria still has two spots in the continental competitions.”
He further disclosed that the second edition of the annual Nwankwo Kanu U19 football tournament for Imo and Anambra States will get underway next week. Ekwueme did not give a specific date for the kick-off but revealed that only 12 teams, drawn from the two sister states, will participate in this year’s edition.

“By tomorrow (Saturday, 31 May), I will be in a better position to reveal the kick-off date,” Ekwueme said.
“But both the draws and the kick-off will take place next week.
“We’ve reduced the number of participating teams. Now, only 12, drawn from Imo and Anambra States, will take part in the competition,” Ekwueme explained.
