NPFL Moves To Secure Spots In Super Eagles For Players

Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has made a case for players in the league to be involved in Super Eagles to stimulate aspirations of players to stay in the country rather than seeking clubs outside.

The plea was one of the high points of the communique reached at the inaugural NPFL Board and Staff retreat in Abuja which was graced by the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau in Abuja on Wednesday.

During the interactive session between the Board members and Staff, it was observed that the NPFL must create heroes to attract fans in larger numbers to the stadium.

“It is recommended that the NPFL Board will reach out to the NFF with a recommendation that NPFL players must be included in future call-ups to improve their confidence and quality of play,” it was stated.

Gusau, who declared the retreat open, commended the NPFL Board for the bold plan to reposition the league and said the NFF will back every forward-looking proposition to add value to make the competitive and attract investors and Sponsors to grow domestic football.

“I came here today to lend support to this novel idea of changing the narratives about Nigerian football and will challenge the NPFL Board to extend this to also having a resource session with the Clubs,” Gusau said in his address.

Explaining his call to extend the retreat to club officers, the NFF President most of the issues that the NPFL deals with are related to the activities of the clubs as they are the major centres for showcasing the good and bad of the league.

“I am always available to support initiatives that will change the narratives about our league”, Gusau assured the gathering of the hierarchy of the NPFL Board members and staff.

In his address, the NPFL Chairman said the purpose of the retreat was to achieve the multipurpose objective of reviewing the last season’s performance with a view to improving observed lapses and building on the successful aspects.

Elegbeleye listed a number of developments in the season which includes the securing of television deals on two platforms, the Over The Top (OTT) with Propel Sports Africa and Direct To Home (DTH) signed with StarTimes.

“This retreat is to provide us a cordial forum for the Board and Staff to rub minds without inhibitions and to have first-hand knowledge of how the Board can intervene to improve processes to achieve more than we have done so far,” explained the NPFL Chairman.

    Hahahaha…..there they go again.

Is it the national team that should improve npfl players or the npfl players that should improve the national team…?

How many foreign based players have we ever called up to the SE to “…improve their confidence and quality of play…”???

How many players has ever been invited to the french or english or German or brazilian or italian national team to “…improve their confidence and quality of play…”?

Npfl players to be invited to the SE to “improve their confidence and quality of play” …..LMAOoo

So why do they have coaches I their clubs….??? Why do dey play 38 league matches in a season….? Why do they play and compete on the continent. Is it the 3 training sessions they will get to have in the SE that will do what 38 league matches in a season could not do….? Will they still remain homebased after 4 or 5 invitation and caps….???
Where is their posterboy, anayo iwuala today….? It’s not even 3 years yet and he has vanished into thin air as many of us predicted…LMAOoo.

Every move of these administrators these days are once again pointing in the direction of another impending disaster.

Firstly, it is a coach who was demoted to academy coach and subsequently sacked by Zambian giants Zanaco for nearly relegating them that they deem fit as Peserio’s replacement when a multiple time CAF CL winning coach is showing interest….now they want to use the SE as a creche and marketing tool for players who cannot reach group stages of CAF competitions….LMAOoo.

    I dey laugh o.

Our people say only a madman does same things same way and expects different results.

These people are sick and disgusting to behold. Not worthy to waste a pinch of a second to listen to. They don’t and will never reason with their brain but only with their ever protruding ‘wetin we go chop’ stomach.
I will be very surprised if edema fuludu and Friday ekpo are not part of these hungry bunch of never do well.
THE BIG QUESTION THESE LOTS ARE CONSTANTLY FAILING TO ANSWER IS WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THEIR SO CALLED HOME BASED BECOMES FOREIGN BASED AFTER ONE OR TWO INVITATIONS TO THE SE. FOOLISH, DEAD BRAINS NPFL PERSONNELS.
I THANK GOD THAT I HAVE SEEN AND INTERACTED WITH SANE MINDS, INTELLIGENT BRAINS RUNNING FOOTBALL IN ENGLAND, HENCE I AM NOT SURPRISED HOW ENGLAND HAS BECOME SO DOMINANT IN FOOTBALL, BE IT IN SKILLS OR MANAGEMENT. NIGERIA’S CASE PROVOKES A VOMIT.
