Athletes and officials have raised concern over the logistical challenges posed by scattered venues at the ongoing 2024 National Sports Festival in Ogun State.
Venues for the Gateway Games are scattered around the capital Abeokuta,Ikenne and Sagamu.
The logistical challenges has affected athletes performance according to Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Bala Mogaji.
“The long distance between venues is affecting the performance of athletes. It’s difficult to manage logistics and ensure full participation,” Mogaji said.
Team Niger’s Haruna Idris said organisers of future festival must work hard to get the logistics right.

“The biggest challenge we have experienced here is the issue of logistics. The scattered venues is really affecting athletes performance,” he stated.
“It is not easy when you have to travel for a long distance from Ikenne to Abeokuta, and give your best as an athlete.”
Naimat Ahmed, an handball player with Team Sokoto said they doing their best to cope with the challenges.
“It’s not been easy, but we are coping well. We just hope things like this will be carefully sorted in future,” she declared.
“Things must be done in the right way for athletes to have optimal performance.”
