President Bola Tinubu has extended his condolences to the Kano State government, the families of the victims, and the entire Nigerian nation over the tragic road accident involving members of its contingent returning from the recently concluded National Sports Festival in Ogun State.
The accident has claimed several lives, casting a pall over the recent sporting event, which celebrates unity and athletic excellence across Nigeria.
According to a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Saturday, the president acknowledged their dedication and aspirations, describing them as embodiments of the resilient Nigerian spirit.

He emphasized the need for concrete measures to improve transportation safety standards nationwide to prevent such tragedies in the future.
“This tragedy casts a shadow over the National Sports Festival, a celebration of unity, talent, and excellence.
“It has long served as a platform for discovering and nurturing athletes who bring pride to Nigeria on both national and international stages.
“The greatest honour we can accord them is to take concrete steps to prevent such tragedies and enhance safety standards across the nation’s transport systems,” Tinubu said.
